Photographer's Note

A photo taken in the Monte-Carlo Bay area, where millions of pounds worth of boats & yachts sit with people like me looking on enviously. A very impressive sight I must say, This is the one I wanted. However with the credit crunch I was a couple of pounds short.

A superb boat and a superb dream. A very nice image too with the boat in a composition very well balanced under a blue sky well collected. Good framing too, this good framing give a great depht to the image.

Je comprend parfaitement ce rêve car je suis aussi très amateur de ces vieux gréements d'une autre époque. Ils font rêver par leur beauté rustique mais aussi par leur histoire de vieux coursiers des mers.
Une composition tout à fait réussie!

Somehow the scene is kind of messy, but your dream yacht, the only black one (i suppose you don't mean the dinghy! ;D) attracts the eye and 'anchors' the compo. Color and sharpness are spot on.

Hi Wilson,

You have good taste my friend! Instead of choosing one of those aerodynamic modern gasoline burners, you chose the much more charming and elegant sail boat. If, like you, I wasn't too short on pounds, euros or whatever, I'd be very happy to lend you money to buy it on the condition that you took me with you on a trip through the Mediterranean.

About the photo: I did a very nice and well thought compo, putting the sail boat on the left with the other boats surrounding it in a way that makes it stand out. Good clarity and colours.

Beautifully busy harbor scene.
The large rubber dighny makes quite a figure cutting between the beautiful yachts.
The cloudless blue sky and the subtle reflections in the riffling harbor complete this wonderful coastal scene.

Lovely shot with excellent composition, with your dream on the left while the 'also-rans' fill up the space. Those tiny touches of red make a big differnce to the impact of the image.

Hi Wilson,

My apologies for not having seen your latest post. Excellent shot. I really like you POV between two other boats. It adds a feeling of standing there yourself looking at the boat that is approaching. Also wonderful light and colours. I seen these boats myself and I am not envious of those people on board those boats. You have the impression they never leave the boat and always have dinner on board. Perhaps a dream boat but not necessarily a dream life. TFS and have a nice evening!

Hi, Wilson. A good off-centre composition with the two boats in the foreground leading the eye towards the main point of interest. Good contrast between the blue of the sea and sky and the white of the boats.

The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the boats. The subject is well frame. The intensity of the light brings out the colors. Have a nice day.

Super rich and famous lifestyle. This makes a fine scenery of the marina with so many expensive boats and you are really going to be envied by TE as proud owner of this one when you strike your Lottery. Despite the cluster of boats, you have tried to isolate the brown boat as the masterpiece with its masts and color to stand out. Good work.

you are too funny! I think I'd probably be a couple of dollars short, too. :))) When my Navy ship went to Monaco there were yachts there as big as it. This is fabulous! Magnificent light, marvelous color and clarity, sharp clear detail and the larger boat is perfectly placed and contrasts wonderfully in your composition. MAD good shot! It looks quite busy on the Monte-Carlo Bay ;)
The sky makes for a good BG on which all the elements stand out well. You had an excellent light as well and I can understand your dream for this boat (the one with the wooden body)...
I've noticed some dust spots on the image, probably(hopefully not) on your sensor.

You've framed your dream perfectly; very interesting to bookend it between the the two sets of boat bumpers while the speeding run-about adding some action. The clarity of colors is also wonderful. We lived on a sailboat for seven years while our son was in grade school; it is an idyllic life for the young. Right now, I'm really glad to have electricity and not be rowing out to the boat while carrying the water in 5 gallon jugs. I am SO glad that we've always been such, "Let'sdo it NOW," people.

Vous avez bon goût, même dans un rêve ! il faut reconnaître que ce genre de bateau dans la marina de Monte-Carlo n'est pas courant. Il a fière allure parmi les yachts. Une image pleine de soleil et de chaleur. Je remarque une embarcation type pneumatique dont je me contenterais bien !

A relatively modest desire, this boat, compared to some of the 'ships' on offer in this port. You timed the shot well, catching what appears to be the owner speeding up on his rubber launch. Nice angle of view, and the pieces on either side in the bottom corners make a good framing device to add depth and create the effect of 'spying' on the rich.

Hi Wilson, It is good that we can still dream of these things. It shows your heart still beats strongly. Well presented image from one of the most expensive marinas on the globe. The blue sea and clear skies make the ideal backdrop. Maybe we both helped pay for this with petrol at the pump or similar, so in a way you are a part owner! TFS Murray
