Photographer's Note

I have first seen this ballerina in Will’s photo on TrekEarth. So when I realized I will be visiting Budva I knew I would like to see this spot. There was of course no chance for me to take as interesting photo as Will did but I have soon realized this place is the best POV for a postcard from Budva. The only thing I regret is that I didn’t have a better light. It was a lovely day but we came to Budva for an evening walk and the sun was hiding behind a thin layer of clouds.

cześć Mariusz, Learning the world through photography! Ja tez sprawdzam przed wyjazdem, gdzie kto był i jakie sa ciekawe miejsca. I rzeczywiście to jest świetny punkt na zdjęcia, z tą tancerką. Chyba dotkniecie jej biustu ma przynosić szczęście bo jakoś zmienił kolor :). Super pocztówka, ale Ty zawsze lubisz na cos ponarzekać.

Hello Mariusz,
You used the sculpture of the dancer really well in the foreground and it adds a great sense of depth to the view. The town looks very inviting too, particularly because of the beach and the jetty, where we can discover some bathers, seen against the old walls of the town. The majestic hill make a great background too.

Nice the panoramic scenery from this section of the town with the statue on the foreground to be the eye catching of it.I like the balance of the photo created from the hand of the dancer as the bell tower of the church on the backdrop.

Indeed a lovely postcard out of the area, with the statue in foreground.
Perspective and depth are perfect.

Elle est très belle cette statue de danseuse à l'avant plan et elle profite d'un très belle arrière plan comme toile de fond.Les montagnes apportent une belle profondeur à l'ensemble.

Hello Mariusz,
I remember old town Budva and this beach - but the lady-statue probably is newer than our 2009 visit there.
Within the old town walls, there is a lot to see, but the beach is rather a small stony strip.

haha...yes, i remember Will's photo as well, that was pretty funny.

its nice to now see a completely different point of view, this time with the town in the bg.

and sure, you may not have had the BEST light, but its still attractive, its certainly not a dull light or exposure.
well spotted and composed with the red roofs in the bg as a strong complimentary subject, I like it

Indeed the light is a bit weak but it's still a great view.
Nice contrast between the dark statue and the light grey colour of the houses.
I like pictures of coastal towns on which we can also see mountains. I believe that Montenegro has a great potential for this.

Sometimes there are even long rows with people who wants to take a selfie in front of a sculpture or take a pictures of their partner with the statue. It is often funny to steel some of this picture. But your picture shows that it is also attractive to take a picture of an elegance statue like this and show the background of it. I like this result.

Very nice composition, with beautiful contrast, this modern sculpture, really beautiful and interesting population of Venetian style background.
I think your trip was very extensive territory, as were three or four countries, whereas I just limited myself to Croatia, which can see it more thoroughly, although I have been many places that I would like to return .
A magnificent colorful, which gives the image a lot of chromatic wealth.
Very good management of lighting and very good sharpness.

Picture perfect postcard from Budva...No picture of Budva cannot be complete without this statue...Nice pastel hues in the BG.
I honestly didn't like this place so much with the uninhabited 'development' and rampant encroachments onto the beach. The place smells money

Hi Mariusz,

Yes, I remember Will's photograph from here but why could you not have taken one just the same? You had two lovely young female models with you, didn't you? :)

The light may have not been the best but you have composed this shot beautifully with the statue very nicely balanced in the frame by the tall church spire. The light, though not bright, is wonderfully soft, the colours are natural and true and the details and sharpness are exquisite.

Hello Marius,

She does make a remarkably interesting focal point! No wonder you wanted to use her in the same way that Will did. I just love how she points to the sky, challenging the parallel tower, and also linking to it.
Though you complain about the light, it doesn't affect the enjoyment of the photograph. The colours are still rich in the town and contrast well with the greyish b/g.

I hope you don't mind but I have done a w/s, which I hope you will like.

An ideal holiday destination for sure and beautiful coastal view despite the weather condition, love the angle and comp by placing the appealing statue on the left third. Those floats are really annoying, and I guess, you couldn't seem to get a shot without them in the photo! something you cant avoid from this viewpoint. This is compensated by the intriguing architecture and the artistic sculpture! Excellent capture, tfs

Hi Mariusz,

I stayed in Budva a couple of days and recognise the bg tower but the statue in the fg is only sort of familiar. Guess I was too intent on finding a spot to go swimming. The town is surrounded on 3 sides by inviting clear water. The pier was the best choice. No problem there with spiky black sea urchins or rough sharp stones. Tfs!

I first saw this ballerina in Will's photo too, it's great that you made it to this lovely spot and are now presenting your own approach to this theme. Despite the low light, your picture has superb clarity, depth and textures as well as lovely moody colours (I like Bev's treatment too.) I think I would crop the left side a little, to leave out the rock and the windows, but I find the way you balanced the ballerina with the scenery in the background most appealing. Widzialem wczesniej to zdjecie i zdjecie Willa. Nie potrafilem tylko do konca zlokalizowac tej rzezby na miejscu. Po zwiedzeniu starego miasta juz prawie opuscilbym Budwe , ale oznakowana droga do platnej plazy doprowadzila mnie na szczescie pod ta rzezbe. Zawsze jest tam masa ludzi chcacych zrobic sobie z nia zdjecie i trudno zlapac moment gdy nikogo tam nie ma ;)
