" A Shortcut to the City ", a photo from Noord-Brabant, South

Photographer's Note

A shortcut I've been taking to reach the city centre, only during daytime.

First, I've to cycle through the industrial area, located along the canal of Breda
where this picture was taken.

As you can see, this 110 meters long mural on the wall is painted by five Spanish
and five Dutch street artist, a friendly battle with paint as they put it.
The mural is called 'Combat Súper Mural' , in 2012.

Behind the wall is a vacant lot , it was once a sugar factory ( CSM ) in the city.
The 'yellow' building b/g is the Courthouse Breda and the 'red' tree masks fountain.

One more in the WS ( same place, different day ).

Hello Loong,
You point out that you go this way only during daytime. You don't say why, but it looks like an area I would definitely avoid at nighttime. Maybe it's perfectly safe and that it's just the graffiti that makes it look like a tough area. But with the wall on one side and the water on the other there is no way to escape, in case...
But the paintings create an interesting atmosphere, like graffiti usually does, and its complemented by the cyclists. We actually get an even better view of the wall paintings in the WS, where they are defended by a substantial part of the Dutch army. Let's hope for those soldiers they won't be sent to fight in Ukraine.

Hi Loong,two beautiful photos from this area of Breda, there is something new in the background with the courthouse and also the abandonment beyond the long wall. And as the soldiers march, we hope for peace, you can see the magical designs and colors that different artists have left to enliven the sight, two high quality catches as always! Great pair of photos showing this mural, one with cyclists one with soldiers. I would find it really difficult to decide which I prefer.
The story of the graffiti painting by 10 artists is fascinating too.

Hello Loong, This long mural reminds me of the mural in Derry. We better see it in the Workshop picture. But no problem I made a virtual walk along this wall. Would be it unsafe to go there in the evening? Probably unpleasant anyway. Strange that this courthouse is in such a place away from the city.

Interesting photogenic composition with good depth effect, nice mural even the light is difficult with these shadows and these contrasts, good with two bikes, tfs.

Hello Loong,
A nice view down the shaded road along the bright colours of the street art on the concrete wall. The building in the background is nicely seen in some bright sunlight and the two cyclist are well included.
