Photographer's Note

Ground Fog on the groeve Oostermeent. Cool blue light because the photo was taken just before sunrise.

The groeve (quarry) Oostermeent represents a transition from the lateral moraine to the Gooi and Eemvallei between Blaricum and Huizen.

Sand was excavated from the north of the Warandeberg and 't Harde up to 1975 just above the groundwater level. Today there is seepage of groundwater in this section. In winter, pools are formed in several places. Depending on the amount of rain in the summer reduces the seepage and the groundwater level drops, making the pools dry up.
