Photographer's Note
Pupating
I just returned from a lovely holiday on Lesvos (Greece). Before posting pics from it, I will be sharing some Rotterdam pics with you. And the first triptych will concern pupating.
In nature some insects pupate .... and during construction most buildings do too. After a building has reached its maximum height, the construction is often covered in safety netting and during the closing stages of the building process this netting is removed in stages.
Displayed here is the netting (billowing in the wind) hanging from the new glass roof of the train shed of the new Rotterdam Central Station. Those little square shadows are photovoltaic elements.
The new station will be opened in mid 2013 and the construction is a complex process of transformation of the old station which remains in operation during it. It involves phased demolition of the old station and creating temporary and new facilities. This picture was shot from one of the platforms.
Information about the new station is here.

Hallo Bert,
U heeft altijd een andere kijk op de dingen, dat maakt dat u altijd bijzondere foto's maakt, met verschillende onderwerpen.
Dit is opnieuw zeer mooi door de rode kleur dat dominant heerst over de foto
Zeer mooi foto werk, perfect samenstelling.
Goed gedaan, bedankt.

Hello Bert,
welcome to the site after your vacations in Lesvos island.I hope to passed there your time with pleasure and to see a lot of photos.I was there before two years and i can say that spent my time discovering the island.
Nice the presentation as the creating texture from the hanging from the glass roof net with its red colour to makes the image moe effective.
Have a good afternoon,Danos

Hello Bert,
a very eye catching abstract. The colour makes this a real knock out.I like that you have filled the frame and kept it simple.

Hello Bert,
Welcome back.
I'm sure you enjoyed Lesvos.
This is an eye-catching shot.
I like your association with pupating, for there are certainly similarities. The strong black lines give the shot its form, whilst the wonderful, shadowy patterns are what the eyes love to dwell upon.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Dag Bert

Hi Bert,
A really great theme. Construction covers and nets that in the past were very pretty boring are nowadays both imaginative and colourful. Your photo is graphically appealing and the red colour is very attractive. TFS and have a nice evening!
Kind regards,
Ulf

Hi Bert
nice to see you back, and i'll be looking forward to seeing what you have for us from your recent trip.
as for this one, and your newest post, both are mind blowing as both have huge graphic and abstract appeal.
Even with your explanation in the note, its hard to tell exactly what this is!
the reds and blacks are wonderful together.

Hi Bert!
I've seen better what is really is on your last post, but this is really a great detail! The black lines and the shades form a beautiful pattern. I like the way you framed it! Great light and colours!

Hello Bert,
Amazing red color to the cover. You managed to take a simple subject and gave it an artistic scale.
