Photographer's Note

Today i present you a large view (stich of 2 photo's)of the Buitenhof (Outside Court)of Den Haag. Behind this facades you find a square named Binnenhof (Inside Court) This place is the Holland's centre of political process. The Stathouder gate leads into the interior courtyard (Binnenhof), in the middle of which stands the Chamber of the Knights, or Ridderzaal, from the 13th century. The buildings built all around, of different periods, demonstrate the continuity of the Dutch regime. They contain the First Chamber, the Ministry of General Affairs, part of the Council of State, and the Second Chamber.

The building on the left is Mauritshuis. The Mauritshuis was built for Johan Maurits van Nassau, Governor of Dutch-Brasil. After a fire in 1704 the Mauritshuis was refurbished and in 1822 it became the ‘Royal Cabinet of Paintings’. The building is now a museum: The Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis.

The littel tower (Het Torentje) is the workingplace of the prime minister.
