Photographer's Note
The Maasrace, part of the 2017 Rotterdam World Port Days. It was the 23rd and the final edition of this famous sloop race. 40 boats competed, covering a distance of 18,4 km. And again there was a great variety of teams, boat types and rowing and coaching styles. A delight!
The winner, team Ferox with the 'Azorean high' is at the bottom of the frame. Their stats: time 1:45:21 (6 minutes faster then number two) average rated power per rower 71 Watt.
Shot a few minutes after the start from the Erasmus bridge (aka The Swan).
A lerger view is here.

Hello Bert,
Een heel mooie actie foto met de diverse boten met rooiers.
Ook de beweging van het water van de Maas geeft een extra leven aan de foto.
De grotere foto is meer gedetailleerd.
Goed foto werk bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John

Hi Bert, lovely capture of the boats of this race, the scene reminds me a bit the fishermen boats coming back in Senegal beaches...ehehe.i like a lot the lights on the water, the rich composition and the very impressive sharpness despite the distance. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bert,
Both the choppy sea and the boats racing gave excellent dynamic scale to the picture.
Grey sky overhead cast grey silvery tones.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hallo Bert, the picture presents an event that happened in Rotterdam. I like the diversity of boats and teams. The crews must coordinate their efforts to go faster on the water. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hello,
I like a lot the view from a high pov, so the perspective is excellent . Impressive scene with this quite turbulent grey sea.
Regards.

Hello Bert,
The choppy grey river with the fine reflections among the waves provides an attractive backdrop to the view of the boats and their crews dressed in different colours. This is not from straight above but from high enough to create a very interesting and somewhat minimalistic composition.
Best wishes,
Gert

Bonjour Bert,
Superbe composition.

Belo trabalho.

Hello Bert,
I’m not quite sure whether this race is taking place on a river or the sea,
I suspect that it is the sea from the details of the water, which look quite turbulent.
You have managed to include quite a number of boats to emphasise the sense of ‘race’. The details are remarkably sharp.
I’m sure it would have been very exciting!
My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Hallo Bert,
Mooi gezicht van al deze boten op het woelige water. Toch goed opletten dat de riemen elkaar niet raken. Mooi licht was er hier en de verschillende kleuren van de deelnemers zijn ook aantrekkelijk.

Hi Bert
Windy conditions looking at the water surface, it's not a pleasure for the rowers. Your high POV allows us to see clearly all the boats. The future winner is allready leader just after the start to take the best and shortest route.
Cheers

Hello Bert,
my neighbour today with a very similar theme and even title.
I admit there is much more human action on your capture. Water looks grey and very rough. What I lke is the obvious fact that this sports event is not limited to young men, they are lots of grey or bald heads visible.
Have a nice weekend!
