Photographer's Note

Looking east across the Amstel River at dusk. The row of buildings gives a very good idea of what most of Amsterdam looks like, with a very small footprint on the ground, but rising several stories.
To the right of the photo you can see the Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) and behind that the Koninklijk Theater Carré (with the red neon text barely visible.)
The river and rings of canals around the city center are important to daily life here, especially transportation. During a short visit it is highly recommended to take a canal tour to get an alternative view of the city (and if you like boat travel there are various water taxis and "canal busses" that you can get passes for as well.)
