Photographer's Note
Thanks again to Bert, Elaine and Rinnie for the organisation of such a lot of coordinated fun last weekend. This was really exciting, and another opportunity to try out the panning that I've got quite keen on recently.
Running parrellel with this one for quite a time I managed to try a few at different shutter speeds before I got one that I thought worked, at 1/30 sec. Not pin sharp, but the desired effect.
Here's a view from that boat by Miguel. There's other WSs of us there.
Oh yes, why the title? Because we were both following this.

Hello Richard,
Very well done this picture, I like the filled effect (hope my wording is correct).

Wow, great sense of speed here, Richard. The boat looks like just ready to take off. It´s funny, I can see nothing of all of us but the smile of Isabelle. Her smile is the star of the photo.

The motion blur on the background and the water while the boat is sharp gives a good feel of the speed we where going, indeed our boat was a long way in front due to our dary driver but one boat gaind field and passed at the end.
A pleasnt and most sensational moment indeed Richard.

The panning effect came out pretty cool on this one, Richard. It doesn't need to be pin sharp to work; even as it is the water taxi stands out really well from the motion-blurred river and background buildings. And you even managed a "rule of the thirds" compo, not bad under the circumstances :o)

I was just commenting on Rinie's water taxi shot and wondering whether I was the only one who felt the James Bond vibe, but seing your title and post I see i was not ;o) Exellent effect with the panning.

I like very much the speed effect on the water and the shapness of those others TE members's taxi! Also, the boat is very well framed. Bravo and it was nice to see you at that meeting!

Hi Richard,
The water taxi gave a lot of inspiration. I like the many different interpretations. Your version shows the speed of the taxi very well.

Good panning shot Richard! It really evokes the sensation of this ride on the river. Although her haircut is quite short, I believe we can see Elaine's hair being blown backward by the wind. Or is it just my imagination...?

Hi Richard
A good job indeed - I like the natural panning effect made by the two boats at almost the same speed.
Thanks for a great weekend as well - it was good to meet you "after all those years" ;-))

Hi Richard,
A successful panning attemtp to me, the blurred background and the focused subject are fine, and the projected water udner the boat adds to the dynamism and speed feeling, looks you had a lot of fun last week end !
Have a nice day,
Jean-yves
