I think I read somewhere that the oldest buildings in Forollhogna National Park date back to the 1600s. If that is so, this is one of them!

The building to the left is the oldest barn I have come across in the area, located on one of the summer farms in Endalen. The workshop image shows the old barn in detail, and the largest of the trees is actually growing on the roof...

When they were building summer farm houses they used the materials found nearby. If you look at the timber in the walls it is pine, that is particularly durable because of its natural content of tar.

This summer farm was in use the summer of 2010 as I could observe cows when passing by...
