Photographer's Note
I have just returned from a very brief family visit in Poland. I intended to use the public transportation relatively close to the Ukrainian border and so I wondered whether the trains and train stations may be filled with people fleeing the war. In the main train station of Krakow, I was positively surprised to see very well-prepared areas with volunteers to help people from Ukraine. There was a huge tent where I believe you could get something to eat and there were several parts of the train station with beds where you could stay for 24 hours to rest.
I regret I didn’t have time to help. I was only passing by in very late evening and very early morning hours and I didn’t want to impose on people who had a rest so I just took a couple of snapshots outside the help areas like this rest point here.
For those of you who don’t know, Poland uses Latin alphabet as opposed to Ukraine where people use Cyrillic. In this photo you see how Ukrainian language becomes part of the Polish daily life.
The picture was taken with iPhone7.

Hello Mariusz,
Here you acted like a jurnalist bringing fresh news from a place that makes headlines.
Interesting note, the passing train swiftly crossed the frame and yet we get that feeling of RR station.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Mariusz,
We have heard several times in our news reports how well Poland is handling this refugee crisis.
You also noticed this on the spot.
The difference in attitude of the government in Poland and Hungary towards the invasion and war in Ukraine is remarkable.
Poland has an incredible number of Ukrainian refugees within its borders. Do you know if they are spread all over the country? Or do they stay close to the Ukrainian border in the hope of returning soon?
I suppose many want to go to those places where they already have family or friends.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Mariusz,
A good impression from the station, you got a clear view of the large sign in Cyrillic script for the Ukrainian people. You balanced the shot well with the snowy tracks and the train speeding past.

mariusz
a nice register of the station in this moments of war, where the building is used a support to the people who escaped of the country. the worst part will be to face a foreign society being a refugee, for how long the arms will be open ?
take care

Ciao Mariusz,a simple but very interesting photo, which shows the welcome with the signs in Ukrainian and also the abundant snowfall that Malgo has already shown us. Excellent organization therefore, it was not easy to bear such a large flow of people, while in Italy we have many difficulties in placing all arrivals. Let's hope this horror ends soon. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hi Mariusz
I was wondering why there was a big new sign in Russian. Wrong! A good photo and good to hear that things are well orgnaised for refugees in Krakow.

Hello Mariusz,
You must have been filled with trepidation about what you might witness on your brief journey!
The conditions are dire for those in Ukraine; they must be so eager to find peace and rest in a friendly country and Poland is certainly providing that!
It is heartbreaking to think that the Ukrainian refugees were in their own comfortable homes, sharing meals and watching TV, just a few days ago and now ... they have so little!
Thank you for this,
Bev :-)

Hi Mariusz,
A good addition to the Ukraine theme. Yes, Poland has received lots of refugees from Ukraine, and the situation is certainly different from Finland for example. Besides the sign, snowy wires catch my attention.

Hello Mariusz.
An interesting photograph, one of which we could classify as a reportage, a sign that clearly indicates where to go or contact.
The truth is that Poland is managing this avalanche of millions of refugees very well, something that is very difficult, with such high figures in a single day.
Now I wanted to ask you about the family, I don't think I know if it was your father, he was delicate, I hope things have improved.
Good sharpness and optimal lighting.
Well done.
You have a good day.
Very best regards
Luis.

Hello Mariusz,
This documentary shot shows how Poland is welcoming Ukrainian refugees, but there are also many nice details in this scene. I like your capture of the moving train with the snow on the tracks, and the gates in the foreground. Take care!
