Photographer's Note

Sanctuary of Holy Cross Tree Relic at Holy Cross Benedictine monastery, on the top of Bald Mountain (Łysa Góra).
Monastery was founded, according to a legend of Prince St. Imre (Emeryk), by king of Poland, Bolesław Chrobry, in 1006... or, according to recent historical studies, by other king of Poland, Bolesław Krzywousty, in the begining of XII century.
The monastery was named after a part from Jesus' Cross which was supposedly enshrined there, and was a site of frequent pilgrimages.
The monastery was destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout its history, with the most significant destruction taking place in the 19th and 20th centuries.
