Photographer's Note

The nice hilly landscape around Jelenia Góra, in Lower Silesia, is scattered with many old castles and mansions. Unfortunately many of them are still in rather bad conditions. But the progress is also evident: recently some of them were completely renovated and restarted its "life" with a new function. The palace of Wojanow is a good example: following decades of unmindful use, it was devastated by a fire in 2002; after thorough reconstruction it became a high-class hotel.
