Photographer's Note

A postcard from the main square of Krakow, dedicated to the cathedral of Santa Maria, which always intrigues for its grandeur and its unique style.
Church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven is a Brick Gothic church adjacent to the Main Market Square in Kraków, Poland. Built in the 14th century, its foundations date back to the early 13th century and serve as one of the best examples of Polish Gothic architecture. Standing 80 m (262 ft) tall, it is particularly famous for its wooden altarpiece carved by Veit Stoss (Wit Stwosz).
On every hour, a trumpet signal—called the Hejnał mariacki—is played from the top of the taller of Saint Mary's two towers. The plaintive tune breaks off in mid-stream, to commemorate the famous 13th century trumpeter, who was shot in the throat while sounding the alarm before the Mongol attack on the city. The noon-time hejnał is heard across Poland and abroad broadcast live by the Polish national Radio 1 Station.
Saint Mary's Basilica also served as an architectural model for many of the churches that were built by the Polish diaspora abroad, particularly those like Saint Michael's and Saint John Cantius in Chicago, designed in the Polish Cathedral style.

Una cartolina dalla piazza principale di Cracovia, dedicata alla cattedrale di Santa Maria, che incuriosisce sempre per la sua imponenza ed il suo stile unico.
La chiesa sorge nel centro storico di Cracovia (Stare Miasto, o "città vecchia"), sul lato orientale della piazza centrale della città, Rynek Główny ("Piazza Grande"). La prima chiesa che venne costruita in questo luogo venne eretta nel secondo decennio del XIII secolo con il presbiterio rivolto ad est, come era normale per l'epoca. Dopo la sua distruzione durante le invasioni dei Tartari, la chiesa attuale venne edificata in stile gotico sulle fondamenta della precedente, divergente dal nuovo orientamento della piazza, rispetto alla quale si presenta obliqua.
Nel corso dei secoli alla chiesa sono state apportate continue modifiche, che hanno lasciato l'impronta di vari stili, fino all'Art Nouveau, coesistendo armoniosamente nell'intero edificio.

L'étendue de la place crée de la profondeur. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de l'architecture de l'église. La présence des gens anime la scène. Bonne soirée.

Hi Luciano, and neighbour today.
At first I thought this great photo might have been a bracketed set of photos but then I noticed that it was a 30 sec exposure thus explaining what appears to be multiples of some people.
Good colour and architectural detail.

Very nice capture of this citycenter in Krakow, taken with perfect pov and sharpness. Dark cloudy sky creates a perfect background to the scenery. Many interesting and usefull notes.

Mervielleux ciel gris et lourd par endroit et également une petite ouverture de ciel bleu quei fait un très beau dessin et quelle mise en valeur de cette cahédrale quelle archtiecture cadrae en latéral cet ocre sur la facade ces deux clocher le maisons aux facades colorés la place avec les terrasses et l'animation parfait splendide.

Excellent point of view on this magnificent church nicely placed slightly off-centre. The many visitors animate the scene and give the composition scale. Judicious use of HDR brings out the colours and detail to perfection.

A very good postcard with a reasonable use of HDR. Sharpness and colours are perfect, and you really brought out every threatening tone of grey among the clouds. Right at the bottom of the photo there is something - I don't know what it is - that slightly disturbs me.

I know that I have said this before, but it is worth repeating, when dark clouds are included in a photograph, they almost always add to the atmosphere, creating a strong, dramatic effect. This is no exception! The tall, church towers, down to the colourful, relaxing people, seem to be under threat from what those clouds are bringing!

il cielo tedesco è decisamente più drammatico (anche il posto che ha fotografato francesco lo è, a prescindere dal cielo), ma perchè rendere drammatica l'atmosfera di Cracovia quand'essa è così dolce (almeno finchè non inizia a gelare),

Dark clouds are not usually good to take photos, but in this case they give an interesting atmosphere to the scene, and the colors are still good and well saturated in spite of the bad weather. Beautiful architecture! Wonderful composition!

Dark clouds gather in the sky. But looking at the people on the square and their clothes it's a warm summer day.
Excellent presentation of the cathedral. The views from above in the highest tower are also beautiful. I remember that there's a trumpet player who plays a song at certain times.
I think that at the bottom of the picture a pigeon tried to be included.

Great angle and you made sure that the grandeur of the square is well presented. It feels enormous!
The weather was not optimal in this moment but you made a great job with the processing to emphasize the clouds and details of the architecture.

One remark, I humbly suggest: I'd crop much of the pavement part on the foreground to add emphasis on the marvelous architecture.

It looks like it was about to rain over Krakow. :-) This is a beautiful postcard. The architecture is great, and there is a lot of activity. I really like the moody sky, too. I think it's good that the foreground of the photo is empty, and I personally would have cropped out that small bit of what seems to be a pigeon. :-)

This is a glorious view of this well known and classic building even if I can't see the trumpeter! Your expert and subtle use of HDR has provided some lovely rich colours, making the buildings stand out beautifully against a somewhat troubled sky while the dozens of brightly dressed people fill the area beneath them and before a wide empty square.

Glorious light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite sharpness.
