Photographer's Note

The parish church of Santa Maria in Obidos was built on the site of a Moorish mosque. The 16th century present church has a distinctive white bell tower and a lovely Renaissance portal; inside, painted ceilings are matched with azulejo tiled walls. The paintings by Josefa de Óbidos (1634-1684) are a feature and in particular the retable depicting the ‘Mystic Marriage of St Catherine’. The tomb of Dom João de Noronha is regarded as a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture. The Church was the setting for the wedding of King Afonso V to his cousin, Princess Isabella of Coimbra, on 15 August 1441, when they were both still children aged 9 and 10, respectively.

this is so beautiful. It is another photo from Obidos which I see here and I deeply regret that I did not visit this town. It seems so pretty so photogenic.

Deze kerk is mooi geplaatst binnen het kader, de witte gevel van de kerk maakt een mooi contrast tegen de donker blauwe lucht van de hemel.
Ik was even op uw site daar zijn mooi foto'ste bewonderen.
Is deze fotoboek gratis of tegen betaling.

Très belle utilisation du filtre polarisant pour rendre le bleu du ciel bien foncé, ce qui met la blancheur de la façade en valeur !
