Will it swallow the tram?, a photo from Lisboa, South

Not many people liked my recent example of food photography so let’s get back to tram photos instead. My favourite spot in Lisbon to capture a tram was in front of the Lisbon Cathedral (Sé de Lisboa, in this photo). It was not an easy task as there were many disturbances like the cars or people passing by and the trams were only coming every few minutes. I have noticed that if photographed at an appropriate moment, it appeared as if the tram was actually going into the cathedral main door. Later I noticed as well that in the cathedral façade you can spot eyes and nose and the main door makes a wide-open mouth. It does look a bit as if the cathedral was a face swallowing the tram. Or with the Coca Cola advert this time, may be the church was about to have a sip of Coke?

One more iconic tram from Lisbon, Mariusz, the place is also one famous stop for any tourists first visting the city, as we did on 10/2010.

The curved wires above the Lisbon tram indicate the direction of travel, contrary to the optical illusion it is about to derail and be swallowed up by the tunnel between the towers. Well seen. Tfs!

I have a similar photo :) (but without Coca-Cola publicity)
Picture to be taken in Lisbon of course.
I also see someone photographing the tram in the reverse direction. However, I don't remember the other direction being a nice view.

yes, the visual effect of the tram in front of the door of the cathedral is impressive and you got a special view of its architecture. I love this cathedral because it is so old and rustic and has a special rustic beauty.

Great timing. If you'd cloned out the curving tram tracks on the left it would have looked even more like the tram had come out from the church.

This is a surprising shot!
The cathedral is a fine building and well positioned as is the tram. It gives the impression that the tram is just about to enter the cathedral doorway. In your analogy, to be swallowed by the open mouth!

Hi Mariusz,
This is quite iconic place where the tram line curves in front of the cathedral. Direct angle here works well. On my tram shots from 2015 there are also ads of Jameson and Coca-Cola. So obviously that advertising tactic works well.
