Photographer's Note

Fortress São João das Maias is located in Oeiras. It was built in 1644 during the reign of King John 4th (1640-1656) to reinforce the Lisbon line of defence and prevent attacks coming from the Atlantic Ocean. The structure was greatly damaged during the earthquake of 1755, but was restored by 1759. It had been originally designed to hold 5 pieces of artillery in the 17th Century. By 1833 had the capacity to use 17 large cannons. It has been restored in recent times and can be easily seen from the footpath along the beach.

Great architecture shot, Antonio. A fine composition in only two colours + lots of great white, black and shade, of course. Like a sand castle, or something surrealist. Nice work.

You achieved a great graphical shot.
Your framing is perfect to play with the lines of this architecture, and the ideal light enhances them.
The polarizing filter gives a stronger blue, and the two complementary colours are very attractive.

Me alegra mucho volver a ver fotos tuyas aquí. Como ésta, una maravilla en cuanto a su luminosidad y su fantástico cromatismo.
Muy buen contraste entre las líneas y volúmenes de esta arquitectura con un bello color y el cielo con un azul muy bien polarizado.
El juego de la luz con las sombras realza el grafismo geométrico de la composición.
Un trabajo magnífico, con una altísima calidad de imagen.
