600 m high and Hardiness zone 10b, a photo from Acores, Islands

Fire Lake, Vila Franca do Campo: Despite the fact that we are here at almost 600 m elevation (570, more precisely) and latitude 37´45 (THIRTY SEVEN), this section of the Fire Lake belongs to Hardiness zone 10b, a zone that in the US, ten degrees latitude lower, above latitude 27' 45(TWENTY SEVEN), includes only the mildest oceanfront locations of Southern California, from Goleta Foothills in Santa Barbara County to Coronado, in San Diego county, all of them below 70 m elevation.

No wonder, as we are only 5 km away from one of the mildest climates of the world.

A wild and wonderful place, and a well done HDR, I suppose. Some part is a bit too dark, but maybe clouds are the cause.

a fascinating shot that tantalises and intrigues. I love the POV and the atmosphere here, it is a beautiful and quite dreamy image. Wonderful colours, textures, light and sky. Sublime!
