Photographer's Note

Now that it seems the Spring has finally arrived and the fields are becoming really colourful with so many flowers, I'm finishing my series about the Alqueva. This will be the last post.

After a long rainy winter, the rain has fallen almost without stop for a few weeks. For that reason, the Alqueva, the biggest artifficial lake in Europe and the biggest dam in Western Europe had to open its spillways a few days ago, as it was reaching its maximum.
I took this photo on the 6th april, but on the 1st the spillways were releasing around 1600 cubic meters per second in the Guadiana River. The place became then a big attraction, for the Portuguese and also for the Spanish, as it's not that far from the border.
