Photographer's Note

The Torre dos Clérigos is a characteristic landmark of Porto. It is the bell tower of Igreja dos Clérigos (Church of the clergymen) built by italian architect Nicolau Nasoni between 1754 and 1763. it is 76 metres high. The statue in the foreground shows António Ferreira Gomes (1906-1989), who was bishop of Porto and in opposition to portuguese dictator António de Oliveira Salazar. So he had to stay in exile for ten years from 1959-1969.
