Photographer's Note

Laura Calvinho & Principe Guerreiro

This pic is taken a few hours after the previous posting, the Perola da Ilha.
After a late lunch in Fuzeta we passed a small ship yard while biking back to Santa Luzia. Of course we stopped. Two fishing vessels were undergoing maintenance. One was Lagos based, the other one was from Villa Real de San Antonio. From the latter, the Principe Guerreiro, only a part of the rakish hull is visible. The boxlike structure on the left is a part of the winch, used for dragging the ships out of the water.

The type of the two ships on display are not the mainstay of the Algarvian fishing fleet. Those are smaller and of a traditional design, and are displayed here. For some information about the Algarvian fishery sector, see the note of Tarde, por favor

The usual PCS2 tech: cropped; saturation, contrast, curves and levels adjusted for the whole pic and certain parts of it; USM-ed , frame added and saved for the web.
