It was quiet... so quiet...

It was mid morning of a rather miserable winter day. It wasn't nice but it definetly wasn't too cold either... maybe a few degrees below freezing. The fog began to dissipate when I shot this. There was no wind at all and I was alone. When I was neither moving nor breathing I could hear a deafening silence. I hope the photo captured at least a tiny bit of that feeling of loneliness that was flowing through my veins at that time.

Yes Iulian, I know exactly that deafening silence in the dead of winter like that. You have really captured this in your photo: great composition, POV, black and white adds to the effect, and the soft lighting is wonderful. Thanks for sharing! -Lara

What an amazing ice storm! There is an other-worldly quality in the phot, except for the fence providing some perspective. Good composition and exposure.

Hi Iulian.
This is a nice shot.- Your POV is good and the fence leading us down the path is a great compositional tool:) B&W is great for winter shots. It would be great if the DOF was greater but, that's only being picky:)

Imi place fotografia ta. In afara comentariilor precedente cu care sunt de acord, imi place si lumina situata sus in centrul pozei care, dupa parerea mea, da energie si un simtamint de speranta atmosferei pe care ai prinso in fotografia ta.

Hi Iulian,

It certainly does look as though it must have been quiet; any tiny sound would have shaken the delicate snow crystals off the branches upon which they laid. Miserable? I guess it felt like that there, but your photograph is quite the opposite; delightful. It's a good thing you had your camera with you.

Hipnotica imagine!!!Cu o buna utilizare in compozitie a spatiului larg si in contradictie cu prim planul plin de vegetatie... si nu cred ca puteai alege alte tonuri in afara de alb-negru...astea cred ca erau si culorile reale :). Ai great o fotografie grafica!

Superba lumina si chiciura de pe copaci! Compozitia e si ea reusita, dind adincime imaginii, si imi place ca ai inclus si portiuni cu tonuri mai inchise, care balanseaza frumos tonurile de gri (foarte) deschis.
Cerul gri si alb e magnific!

This indeeds capture the loneliness. It has many good aspect. First making it black and with was a good idea to give this impression. Leaving it as full color would probably have made it too vibrant to feel the total stop in time. Also the long path help make it look like it is never going to end.

A really nice frosty day and excellant choice in black and white. I have just finished cutting in the woods today in England and the day has been like pea soup and damn cold, just as the photo.

I love these frosted trees and I also like the fence marching off into the distance. Not really a lead in line but it still produces a good effect here. Nice shot.

je découvre cette photo aujourd'hui et j'apprécie beaucoup l'ambiance froide qui en ressort. Le temps gris vient accentuer cette atmosphère et la cloture sur la droite apporte une belle perspective à la compo. Beau travail.
