Photographer's Note

Gather round and I shall tell ye a tale of yonder.. Folks you know, old SD cards can and do fail. In that fated hot day the little Nikon L120 bridge had it rough- shooting and filming non-stop for some four hours (and some sets of spare batteries).Image was fine but finally at download the dreaded grey bar appeared- it is funny how this particular type of defect did not stop the picture from showing up or did not garble it significantly- only a grey horizontal bar is visible. Something must have happened during transfer, a wise friend said- so check other pictures for problems. I did and to my surprise three others had the problem shown here. The camera is perfectly fine, after a test with another (better faster newer more expensive) card revealed. The card itself after an in-camera format seems fine *but I don't trust it for serious work anymore*.
Rant over, so let's see - in the Botanical Gardens of Iasi they installed this little oriental pavilion. Funny enough, some called it the Chinese Pavilion, others the Japanese Pavilion.Yup, Oriental does it for me. Nice wooden structure with a sort of bench and a porch, and a traditional (methinks Chinese) octagonal window (in fact a mere hole in a panel) placed in the shade of some trees and surrounded by flowers (interestingly NOT shown in the photo, imagine some beautiful flowers right behind the photographer looking towards the pavilion, hehe). One can sit there and enjoy the view, and chimp. Always chimp, folks (check the picture you just took on the rear LCD/wievfinder). Because no matter how good a photographer you are and no matter how nice the camera is, sometimes the *grey bar* happens.
