Graffiti are scratches artistically or in writing expressed on public surfaces. The word graffiti originated from the Italian word "graffito" which means to scribble, and the root is derived from the ancient Greek word "graphein" which means to write.
It has existed since ancient Greece and Rome, and the modern history of graffiti began in 1968, when graffiti began to appear on the New York subway. In many countries, they are prohibited by law and are treated as vandalism.
