Photographer's Note
On our way back from Wien we stopped in Pozsony (Bratislava). I took this photo before the boarding, from the hydrofoil. On the right you can see the castle and St. Martin's Cathedral.
I would be pleased if you told me your opinion about the photo!
Bratislava, historically known by foreign and alternative names, is the capital of Slovakia and, with a population of 426,000, the country's largest city. Bratislava is in the south-west of Slovakia on both banks of the Danube River. Bordering Austria and Hungary, it is the only national capital that borders two other countries.
Bratislava is the political, cultural, and economic centre of Slovakia. It is the seat of the Slovak presidency, the parliament, and the government, and is home to several universities, museums, theatres, galleries and other important economic, cultural, and educational institutions. The headquarters of many of Slovakia's large businesses and financial institutions are in Bratislava.
The history of the city, long known by the German name Pressburg, has been strongly influenced by various peoples, including Austrians, Czechs, Germans, Hungarians, Jews, and Slovaks. The city was a key economic and administrative centre of the Kingdom of Hungary and was its capital under the Habsburg monarchy from 1536 to 1783. Bratislava was home to the Slovak national movement of the 19th century and to many Slovak historical figures, including Milan Rastislav tefánik and Alexander Dubček.
Bratislava Castle is the main castle of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
The massive rectangular building with four corner towers stands on a quite isolated rocky hill of the Little Carpathians (Malé Karpaty) directly above the Danube river in the middle of Bratislava. It is an outstanding feature of the city.
It provides an excellent view of Bratislava, of Austria and, when there is good weather, of Vienna and Hungary. Many legends are connected with the history of the castle.
The St. Martin's Cathedral is a cathedral in Slovakia's capital, Bratislava. It is situated at the western border of the historical city center below Bratislava Castle. It is the largest and finest, as well as one of the oldest churches in Bratislava, known especially for previously being the coronation church of the Kingdom of Hungary. Currently, it is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Bratislava. From 1995 to February 2008 it was the concathedral of the Archdiocese of Bratislava-Trnava.

Hi Marci mio,
At last it is saturday, and at last you uploaded your new photo as you told me, from Batislava. There were boat tours through Danube, from Vienna to Bratislava, but i was so involved in Vienna that i missed that opportunity (although Korkut had adviced such a tour while i was there).
The blue is fantastic, and the landscape format very well chosen here. It is quite interesting to see both modern and old architecture in one combined. I wish to see those castles in more detail. Maybe you'll share with us?
Cheers,
Deniz

Szia!
Szép a kék ég, bár azért a szmog is rendesen látszik..:)

Hi Marton,
Very successful, wide view over the very blue river. The light was really attractive, creating pleasant colours. Good composition with the castle and a part of the city totally on the right hand side and the modern bridge on the left. There are some fine reflections too in the water. Well captured and thanks for sharing!

Szia Marci!

very well done. although the bridge seems very very far it looks very neat. your arrangement of the angle is very correct the photo doesnt need any tilting.I appreciate your positioning you were able to get buildings too into the frame.
