Photographer's Note

Comet P17/Holmes bursted unexpectedly on October 24th (to celebrate my birthday, of course). More on the comet on web page http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/home/10775326.html .

The comet is visible with unaided eyes as bright smudged spot in the constellation of Perseus. (But I urge you to look at it with binoculars or a telescope, if possible.)

Some technicalities:

300 mm lens stopped to f/7.1
ISO 800
10 exposures of 30 seconds combined (total exposure time 300 s)
Equatorial mounting with guidance
