Photographer's Note

Descending from Refugio Vega de Urriellu (1.953 m, officially called Refugio Julian Delgado Úbeda) towards Refugio de la Terenosa and further the villages of Bulnes or Sotres, the trail looses elevation quickly, hugging the north side of Cuesta Sierra. This spot is Colláu Vallejo (1540 m), where photographers usually turn their cameras in the opposite direction, towards Naranjo de Bulnes. Given the unfortunate light and weather conditions, I preferred these two cabrones, who descended quickly towards me and honored me with their undivided attention as soon as I sat down. My guess is that they are used to receive treats from hikers. Somewhat intimidated by the flash and obviously disappointed by the lack of treats, they headed further downhill to enjoyed the pasture, leaving behind the typical scent that was just about to knock me over.
