Photographer's Note
Hello friends and colleagues, today I propose a view of the beach of the city of Ribadesella, a charming place at the mouth of the river Sella. I hope you like it, then some letters about the villa.
Ribadesella (in Asturian, Ribeseya) is a council of the autonomous community of the Principality of Asturias. It limits to the north with the Cantabrian sea, to the east with Llanes, to the south with Cangas de Onís and Parres and to the west with Caravia. Founded by Alfonso X el Sabio. It was one of the main Asturian ports of the 19th century. It has a population of 6,242 inhabitants (INE, 2011).
The council also has numerous companies dedicated to adventure sports, such as canoeing, caving or climbing. The first Saturday of August after day 2 is celebrated the famous International Descent of Sella, where athletes from all over the world attend and a great local party is celebrated.
This council also stands out for the variety of tourism that it offers, and especially for the activities that surround the cave of Tito Bustillo, famous for its prehistoric paintings and for the dinosaur footprints.
During the Middle Ages the town lived a moment of splendor thanks to the shipyards that were nourished by the wood that was lowered by the Sella, and maritime trade, especially salt (essential for salting the fish). However, the most profitable activity was the capture of the salmon in the Sella, controlled by the "Mareantes", and the hunts of the whales that hibernated in those waters. As a result of this the House of the whales that lasts in the village until the nineteenth century is derived.
In the political sphere, Ribadesella became a very contested square thanks to its innumerable sources of wealth and its strategic geographical situation. It is here when the house Quiñones takes over the town in the time of Juan II, returning to incorporate the crown in the time of the Catholic Kings who evicted the Quiñones family from their possessions.
In the 16th century, a historic event took place for the town, such as the arrival of the Emperor Charles I of Spain, as a result of which the event was celebrated for two days in a row. It is in this stage when the enclosure of the hermitage of the Guide is fortified to defend the port of enemy towns. It is a time of relative tranquility when it comes to safety.
During the seventeenth century an attempt was made to create the main port of Asturias in Ribadesella, in addition to the link with the plateau, presenting a road project by Ponga, but due to Jovellanos influences, it finally fell to the port of Gijón that projected the Pajares highway. access to the plateau by Leon. Not because of this the village stagnated, because Carlos III donated 100,000 reales for the works of expansion and improvement of the port that would be completed a century later.

Hello Angel,
A nice and wide photo of the beach and the strip of houses in the background in front of the silhouettes of the hills. Good composition. The clouds add a moody atmosphere.

It seems you have taken this photo on the early morning, soft light, a peaceful atmosphere, the sea is still, simply a beautiful view with a large beach in the FG

Bonjour, cher ami Angel,

Hello Angel,
I am surprised to see this very large beach so almost deserted in early July. Maybe the clouds were expected to deliver rain very soon. I find the mild colours and soft light very pleasant, and you also balanced the composition well.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Angel
beautiful. you do well with these type of scenes. you often show a large expansive skyline just like this. here the sky is mostly white with large clouds and it looks great. the hills and mountains in the back are smartly placed as well. love the large amount of space you left for the sand. cheers

Hola Angel,
This is a very well composed photograph.
The f/g beach makes a long perspective to the town, neatly positioned on the thirds line.
The atmosphere is quiet and tranquil, with not a person in sight!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Angel,
The yellow red sandy beach contrasts well with the blue shadowed hill at top right and the soft pale blue grey sky. Fantastic sharpness too. Tfs!
