Photographer's Note

Coming from the north, the town of Potes can be reached following the river Deva through the very scenic Desfiladero de la Hermida. The trip is definitely worth taking, as the little town has some remarkable medieval architecture to show. This is one of the newer bridges over the Quiviesa River, where the highway to Fuente Dé crosses the river. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find out its name using the internet. Further upstream can be found a 13th century bridge. The place is clean, welcoming and authentic: it's not just a tourist attraction, although I am sure that tourism contributes significantly to the revenue, but a place where the locals seem to still live normal lives.

It's different from our usual image of Spain--it looks more like northern Europe, with the gray clouds and lush forest, matching well with the rich brown of the stones. It's a nice touch to have people on the bridge. Maybe the image is a bit tilted toward the right, I'm not sure, but it's small. Regards, Ken.

Roland, wonderful rich saturated colors on this very interesting and well seen composition. This is a shot that may not have been as good if you had had more light. Everything right to the people on the bridge that scale it all perfectly are great. Superb post.
