Photographer's Note

I don’t remember if was Malopes or Jose Elias who said that in TE the Carnaval had been forgotten by its users.

Well, since my serie “people in Barcelona” I want contribute with the Carnaval (well, as usually I don’t post very recent photos, there will be more photos in a few days from now, and this is only one exemple).

Let me explain you something more.
I was in the MACBA, in the Raval, with barrufeto_77 who listened drums and trumpets (I don’t know why I’ve writeen trumpets... there weren’t). In the Carme street there was a “rua” where hundred of people were dancing.
There was a few groups and each one of them was disguised in a different way.
It was funny. I I twisted my ankle that afternoon, but was funny.

Finally the “rua” went to the Ramblas (probably the most famous street of Barcelona) and returned to the Raval until the Folch i Torres square (why even I say the name of this square? In another photo will arrive the answer).

About the photo.
She’s a young girl from Philippines (well, perhaps she has born in Barcelona, but then her family comes from Philippines). Anyway, there was people from a lot of countries but, probably, the most beautiful of all them was a young Philippine who was in this group.
Believe me, it was funny and they also enjoyed the party. People from different countries and all of them together.
In another photos I make a question: people of Barcelona, do you recognize your city?
Well, let me answer today to the question.
Here I can recognize Barcelona.

And one thing more (or two).
Why black and white? Carnaval is colour, is life, is fun, but...
But I thought that black and white could be more interesting.
A few weeks ago another TE member talked me about a conference by a photographer called Joan Guerrero.
His photography speaks about immigration, about people, he has worked in the Raval too (if you don’t remember, in my last photo I spoke about the Raval as one of the poorest neighbourhoods of the city) and also worked in black and white. All together.
Then I thought that black and white had to be the choice.
Now I see a photo of the Raval while a Carnaval day, not a photo of Carnaval in the Raval.

Finally let me remember that with these photos I want show you Barcelona through its people. How are they, how they smile, how they...

I hope you like it.
