Photographer's Note
Bohuslän is a Swedish province in Götaland, on the northernmost part of the country's west coast. It is bordered by Dalsland to the northeast, Västergötland to the southeast, the Skagerrak arm of the North Sea to the west, and the county of Østfold, in Norway, to the north.
Bohuslän was inhabited during the Stone Age but has only been part of Sweden for about 350 years.Bohuslän is named after the Norwegian medieval castle of Båhus. Båhuslen was a Norwegian county from around 1050 until the Treaty of Roskilde in 1658, when the kingdom of Denmark-Norway lost this area as well as Skåneland to Sweden.
Bohuslän were owned by the Crown. This meant that it was free of charge to build on the land. A young couple starting a new home would put out some pieces of wood in a spot they fancied. If there were no protests within a couple of weeks, they would start the construction of their house. This is the explanation how such places as Smögen was founded.
In 1850 the stone quarries appeared in Bohuslän and the stone cutting industry became important in the late 1800's. The Bohuslän granite was exported all over the world; to Rio, South Africa, the quays of Buenos Aires and to the Sydney Opera House.

Hello Trevor,
The low viewpoint using the rocks to frame the houses is really quite inspirational. Perfectly exposed with excellent colours and clarity. Superb rendering of the textural detail. Thanks also for the interesting complementary note.

Hello Trevor,
the massive bed of granite makes a fine base to this very interesting shot whilst the red roof topped buildings almost appear to be made from Lego blocks.
The subdued colours are terrific and clarity first rate.
Best regards Les.

Hej Trevor,
Gert

There is a repetetive element in the rock formations and another one in the houses. Together with the low POV this photo has an excellent composition!
Regards, Jan
