Impressive to see all the beautiful ships in the center of Stockholm.It was almost like travel back in time.

The Tall Ships' Races are races for sail training "Tall Ships" (sailing ships). The races are designed to encourage international friendship and training for young people in the art of sailing. The races are held annually in European waters and consists of two racing legs of several hundred nautical miles, and a "cruise in company" between the legs. Over one half (fifty-percent) of the crew of each ship participating in the races must consist of young people.

wow! that's WHAT I have always wanted and have always missed to see with my own eyes (let alone capture with a camera!) while staying in Stockholm - The Tall Ships Race!
A very picturesque scene!
Knowing the area where you took this photo, I can say you chose one of the best (if not the only best) composition possible.

Hello Boa,

as a sailing enthusiast I do appreciate a lot this fantastic view od all the tall ships. I saw an analogue spectacle in Bergen and it was really a feast. Your photo has several good points beside the fine featured ships: a really good pov that shows a beautiful side of Stockholm harbour, a tender and bright light which makes everything shine, and an excellent definition with wel saturated colours. I've never seen Stockholm so colourful! In my view an outstanding photo.

I know the photo was taken in 2007, but is this a yearly event each july?

wow, I've gotta come back to Stockholm just for this!
Never seen a 'tall ship' in person before, so this would be great!

wonderful photo, all the ships are totally packed in, so much to see and admire here.
