Photographer's Note

This train is leaving Kleine Scheidegg ( 2061 m) & climbing up to Jungfraujoch (3471 m). The highest train station in Europe is located at slightly above the base of the Jungfraujoch at 3454 m. Jungfraujoch is a col or saddle & is the lowest point on the mountain ridge between Mnch and Jungfrau. This photo is a continuation of my previous photo where you can see the north view of the holiday village of Kleine Scheidegg with the the Eiger & the Mnch in the background. Now you see the west view of the village in lower middle left. This is the beginning of a hike to Lauterbrunnen via Wengen. There are two main trails going to Wengen. I chose the one recommended by Ira Spring in his "100 Hikes in the Alps" hand book. This trail moves away from the railway tract and has more of a diverse terrain & elevation. The other one follows the railway line but move downward all the way. For more photos taken from this trail please go to my theme. I'll add more photos.
