Photographer's Note
A view from Mürren-Sonnenberg-Suppenalp-Shiltalp-Spielbodenalp-Gimmelwald hiking route:
The village of Mürren lies at the foot of the Shilthorn at 1650 meters, high above the Lauterbrunnen valley. A village of 450 inhabitants & probably many more tourists. A popular ski & snow boarding destination. It is the highest continually inhabited mountain village in the Bernsese Oberland. It is car free and accessible by cableway from Stechelberg. It can also be reached by mountain railway from Lauterbrunnen but at the time I was there the railway was closed. So I had to take the bus from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg. From there a cable car to Mürren . The cable car continues on to the Shilthorn with its revolving Piz Gloria Restaurant, made world-famous by the late 60s James Bond movie called “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. From Mürren you can view the impressive opposing summits of the Eiger, Mönch, and the Jungfrau. This photo was taken while ascending the Shiltgrat soon after Suppenalp, the second of the four mountain huts/restaurants along this trail. In the background you can see the Eiger on the left and the Mönch which is partly covered in clouds. The mountain on middle right is the Schwarzmönch. From Mürren the floor of the Lauterbrunnen valley is 800m straight down below.
It is best to base yourself in Mürren or Gimmelwald if you want to explore this part of the Jungfrau region. Since you are already in the mountain you can start your day early and have more time to explore the mountains and valleys without having to worry about missing the last cable car down & your train connections to elsewhere. For me Mürren alone is worth at least five days or more. I hope to be back.

Hello Latiff, great photograph, I like the place, the mountains, must to be a nice place, but living there must be a little bit unconfortable wating or running for the cable car. Thanks for sharing us.

Hi Latif,
A fantastic scenic image of the village bathed in sunlight, with the imposing mountains in the background. Very good composition, and I like the way the shadowed mountain intersects with the background. Very good sharpness overall.

Hi Latiff,
what an excellent, a majestic landscape. You captured it from a very good point with a great lightness. The shadow and light details gives a nice effect here, the contrast is also very good.
I would like to be there.

Latiff,
Just goes to show, what a little or not, walk can do for you. This is just great Latiff.Has almost all the ingredient of a Swiss/Alpine postcard or anything that brings "wish I was there" syndrome.
What do I think of the 70-300mm IS USM? You need it. Beside above average optic, you definitely need the IS for the 300mm.Furthermore it would complete your lens gear now that you have the 17-85mm ISUSM. When I said above average optic, you will definitely get the detail and sharpness but minus the soft aesthetic effect of the L glass on the image.

Hi Latiff,
A very good PoV to show Mürren overlooked by the always impressive Eiger, the vertical framing adds value to this view as it increases the sensation of height.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi Latiff,
Wow, although I have been a couple of times in Mürren I haven't seen it from this angle. The village really seems to be on the edge. Face of Eiger is stunning. And direction of light gives a good sense of mountain forms with light and shadows alternating.

Hi Latiff,
What an impressive mountain view! This little village looks so vulnerable being located close to such magnificient rocky, snow covered mountain tops.
Well chosen vertical crop additionally increases impression of how high these mountains are.

Hi Latiff,
I love this one .. everything about it is how I would imagine it. It is like a romantic landscape painting .. The way the light works across it is wonderful the peak is powerful .. almost mythic .. the village is amplified by the vibrant colors .. and presents such scale and a sense of our little place in the universe .. into my favorites.
take care,
John

Hi Latiff, your good vertical view brings out the true majesty of this mountain and accentuates the fragility of the little town at its foot. A great juxtaposition of the man-made versus the awesome natural forms. Excellent perspective!

What a breathtaking view, and realtively accessible, whenever I visit Switzerland (assuming the weather holds) I cannot get enough in any season. I like the position of the village all tucked in a tight valley with awesome outlooks.

Hi Latiff,
A landscape of magnificent mountain. The place for the shot is chosen well. The climbing was well rewarded. The natural colors are superb and I like very much the management of the lights which gives a lot of depth to the image. We really feel any small in front of such rocky masses. Bravo for you album and thank you for sharing.
With all my friendships

Latiff,
You definitely took a different hiking route than we did. The route we took went from Murren to Gimmelwald and was all paved and mostly downhill. We stayed in Lauterbrunnen and took the cable car and train to Murren. After a visit to the Shilthorn we hiked from Murren to Gimmelwald, then took the cable car back down to Stechelberg. It was a beautiful trip and well worth a return visit.
Your photo is excellent using the vertical format to show the depth of this scene. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness and DOF. The areas of sun and shadow provide nice contrast throughout the shot.
TFS,
Asa
