Photographer's Note
Out on Dartmoor on Sunday, a beautiful cold yet sunny day.
I am looking north toward Burrator reservoir and the tiny village of Sheepstor.
Sheepstor is a village, civil parish and former manor on the western side of Dartmoor. In 2001 its population was 53, down from 95 in 1901.
The village church is dedicated to St Leonard, built of granite, it dates from about 1450, although the first church was built around 1240.
Sheepstor was used as a location for the 2010 film 'War Horse'. Director Steven Spielberg famously declared 'I have never before, in my long and eclectic career, been gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty'.
A slightly different point of view in the w/s.
Thank you for your interest.

Hi Jean,I saw in Bev's photos that you were very lucky with the weather this late November, bright sunshine and therefore perfect for the latest releases before winter. And here we have a great example, two photos from the same point that show a landscape that could be a painting, warm and typical colors of this season with the bonus of typically British period architecture, very beautiful! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Jean,
The autumn colours are not so very bright, but maybe this vegetation never turns into the strongest red or orange tones. But it's still without any doubt an autumn view, and a very nice one with these mild colours covering the gently rolling hills. The photo is well balanced with the lake and the church on separate sides. In the WS I like the inclusion of the two fields full of grazing sheep. That could easily have been the main photo as well as this, with its neat triangle of sheep, water and church.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Jean,
Such a lovely landscape, which has it all. Hills, green fields, forests, a small lake and a charming village with a real English church tower. Very well captured from a good viewpoint and with a fine light.

Hello Jean,
This is a lovely, wide view of the area. We can see a little of everything, but the church and the lake stand out the most. I like all the earthy colors and the hills in the background, too. Take care!

Hi Jean
A glorious photo looking over the small hamlet (I think that village is being a bit optimistic) towards the hills and water. Better still in the large view.
cheers

Hi Jean
A beautiful scene on a wider scale, lovely early autumn colours, but it's the blue water that is the icing on the cake. Well done
Best regards

Hello Jean,
I wonder how many times you flicked between the two scenes to decide which to use as the main one. But ... when you have both available I don't suppose it matters!
The words from Steven Spielberg mean a lot!
Many people are not familiar with moors and the diversity of the vegetation, the wild atmosphere and the characterful buildings, created to withstand the heat and the cold of the weather!
Your photograph encapsulates it all!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jean,
A splendid landscape picture in which the blue reservoir immediately demands attention.
Also the church and its tower catch my eye.
Nice variety of meadows and forests.
I think I can find 'sheep' and 'tower' in the name of the village. But perhaps the name refers to something completely different.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Jean.
A wonderful view with this beautiful landscape, of groves, green meadows and what looks like a river, enchants the small town with its high tower church.
Both the color and the brightness of the photo are magnificent, highlighting the beauty and sharpness of the composition.
Very well done. I like it
Have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Jean
Good to see the catchment area partly revegetated, in stark contrast to the denuded hillside at right. The blue lake is an eye-catching focal point. Tfs!

Hi Jean,
Lovely panoramic view from the elevated point of view. We can spot a charming church in the valley and the blue reservoir. Typical colors of a moorland. I live next to North York Moors so I see it quite often.
Very well done,
M
