Photographer's Note

In September 2003, Liverpool celebrated the end of the Clipper 2002 round the world race, which began and ended here. Eight yachts, representing eight cities, raced 55000km around the globe.

The photo shows part of a sound and light show telling the history of Liverpool which was projected onto a huge wall of water.

Postprocessing - straightened, sharpened, resized. One small highlight cloned out.

What a great idea projecting this picture and what an experience it must have been to see this live.

It is a great picture Andy – almost make one feeling part of some mythological tale. Colours are great, composition great. It is a little blurred but it comes from the “screen” and not from missing dof I think. Never mind, it is a great shot and I truly would have enjoined to see it live.

Colors are wild. I like that you included silhouettes of people ... it gives the wall of water a very special framing and your readers a perspective of being there.

A grahic design-like quality. But the head of the man at the bottom made this shot a "reality". Very interesting.

Seriously, an amazing picture. It would probably be perfect without people's shadows... well, maybe much too perfect. They bring the sense of reality. How often do you have shows like this? I'd love to come and see one!
