Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

Today, my photograph comes from Sheringham railway station.

The North Norfolk Railway, also known as the "Poppy Line", is a five and a quarter mile heritage steam railway in Norfolk, England, running between the towns of Sheringham and Holt. The North Norfolk Railway is owned and operated as a public limited company, originally called Central Norfolk Enterprises Limited. - Wikipedia

Not only do you get the nostalgic journey on an old steam train but, as you can see, the station is steeped in history, too, looking just as it would have done in the 1940's.

The ticket office is through the door that you can see on your right and tickets are given as in the olden days. When you are on the train, a ticket collector checks and marks your ticket.

The staff and engineers are all volunteers and appear to be thoroughly enjoying their retirement hobby.

Two guards are discussing the arrival of the train with one of the waiting passengers.

Thank you for your interest, Bev :-)
