Photographer's Note
Well here goes ,this is my first pic that i have ever posted ,i am hoping that this will be a learning curve for me .My equipment is quite embarrasing ,i am using a camera (epson )that was thrown away ,i saved it, and in doin so,it has given me so much pleasure.Even if its got a lens that wobbles !!
This pic was taken in november 2005 ,i was on my way home from whitby and saw the dark clouds coming across .I turned off and headed for Cowbar cliffs ,the wind was at nearly 40mph and it was freezing ,i caught this moody sky seconds before a downpour that had me scrambling for the car.Hope you like it

Andy,
I would give you 20+ points for your note alone! I can just imagine your excitement when you posted this pic, and your enthusiasm is to die for!
Under the circumstances, given your "dodgy" equipment, I'd say you've done a pretty good job....certainly composition wise it looks fine. It's a bit hazy, but that just adds to its charm. All in all, a great effort. Keep them coming and treat yourself to a decent camera - I get the feeling that you won't have wasted your time, or your money. Well done. Best regards, Vicky

Wow well done Andy. First of all congratulations on your first upload, you realy didn't waste much time. i am sure you will enjoy the site and you will get some really encouraging comments. Secondly you really shouldn't be embarresed about a camera that gives stunning results like this, although I do keep tellingyou that the best camera is the one between your ears.
You have caught a wonderful moment in time, the broken waves in the foreground have given just the interest that was needed. Very well done.

Good morning Andy -
For a throw away camera you have made it work well. This is a very good example of being at the right place at the right time. The lighting, the stormy sea, and the impending storm make this image work. I see a few technical problems with the image but with the camera limitation you did a wonderful job.
Keep shooting and posting - thanks for sharing

Old broken, new modern, no matter, it is the capture that counts and this is a really good one. It has old the elements needed, dramatic sea and sky and good composition. Wish I had been there at that moment in time.

hello Ollie,
nice shot! It was worth the detour! You have nice details in the wave in the foreground (could be sharper though...).You also have a nice sky with rain pouring on the right. I guess it was at the end of the afternoon? It would explain the orange sky and the lighting that could be lightier. A tiny bit more exposition would have been excellent I think.
Nice work!!

Hi Andy,
Reading from your profile what you've done to your camera, I'm amazed by the outcome of your photographing quest!
LOL
No kidding, the scene is beautiful - like an old oil painting.
Start saving for a proper camera, mate - you'll be doing miracles with it, trust me, I can feel it!

Beautiful dramatic view from the Cowbar Cliffs across to Boulby. The weather provided excellent conditions for this photo. We can see the turbulence of the sea you captured well.

Hi Andy - welcome to TE, good timing here, the sunset light and the stormy weather make an impressive combination. I'm not familiar with the camera you used, but under the circumstances this is a fine job.

Great image, forget about your equipment. I know how difficult it can be to get a shot in these conditions. There are people here on Trek Earth with 5D Canon cameras but they cant get results this dramatic. (Message me privately and I will tell you who they are!) Well done.
