Photographer's Note

Joseph of Lock Cottage.. Joseph is a finger painted original painting from an exciting artist from South Africa (Jan Raats). He is an original painted of a real chap that would have worked on the Cape Vinyards. Joseph(not his real name) will have spent his whole life working on the vinyards, part of his pay would consisted of the dregs of the wine vats- causing severe alcholism amongst the workers ( a practice that is being eliminated so as to improve human rights.) The stick that Joseph carries is traditional in carrying his belongings (in plastic bags) hooked over his shoulder as he walked miles through the vinyards. Today his portrait dominates the kitchen wall of the Lock Cottage in a little Oxfordshire village.. A caretaker of the cottage of sorts..
