One of Millennium Bridges, a photo from Tyne and Wear, England

Photographer's Note

I suppose, around year 2000, it was common to add the word “Millennium” to new structures. In the consequence, there are several Millennium Bridges around the world, in Gateshead, Lancaster, Glasgow, London, Salford, Stockton-on-Tees, York, Dublin, Podgorica, Gdansk, Denver, Chicago and Kazan.

It reminds me the fastest spaceship of all times which was called Millennium Falcon (that was long time ago in the galaxy far far away).

Gateshead Millennium Bridge which connects Gateshead in the south and Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the north of the River Tyne is certainly one of my most favourite bridges in town. I took a photo from this point of view many many times, but I was always bothered by the uninteresting foreground. This time I liked the warm winter sunshine here so much that I decided to share it.

Bell placed the modern arch-bridge against the far side bank houses, Mariusz.
Contrast of architecture-design as well with different warm tones of the facades, bright day ligfht enable a beautiful picture in the outcome.

Hello Mariusz,
A very eye-catching design by engineering firm Gifford and the architectural firm Wilkinson Eyre.
Especially the construction to open the bridge to the sailing traffic is spectacular and innovative.
We will forget that the bridge was partly paid for by the European Regional Development Fund after Brexit. 😉

Hello Mariusz,

You shouldn't have any concerns about your composition, this is very good. From this viewpoint, we can clearly see how the curve of the bridge is mimicked by the white, curved arch, which acts as a support for the bridge. It gives us two routes into the b/g: across the river or over the river!
The buildings on the far side are sharp and have a warmth of colour, standing in contrast to the blue sky behind them.
Blue sky in December ... you must have been thrilled!

Hello Mariusz,
This must be the very best point of view to present the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. The high arch over the water forms a nice counterweight to the curving bridge.
On the bridge itself I see two different paths. I suppose one for pedestrians and one for cyclists.
You can't really add much interesting in this foreground. It suffices with the people who come up the stairs.
Beautiful light on the buildings along the quay well in contrast with the blue sky.

the bridge looks like a trap for bears..
I guess it is beautiful, but most of them are usually very similar, not so much creativity. a nice view of this one.

An unusual horizontal suspension bridge. It probably wouldn't work in San Francisco due to earthquakes, but looks great here in this geologically stable region. Good sharpness and the people add scale. Tfs!

yes certainly the warm light does a lot for this image, but the composition si also very good, I like the people way off center coming up the stairs

Enter the address you indicate in the comment and I was amazed at the wonderful photos you have of this bridge, some photos I knew but others I did not.
This POV is fantastic, because we can see very well the bridge with the people walking and the great arch, on the other side the houses on the banks of the river.
A magnificent photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.

P / D: My photos are the result of the framing that I have seen before in my brain and then I think that we all look for the point from where the object is most benefited. I always say that there are places that you love in photos and when you see it in nature you are disappointed.
