This is a crazy photo, I know. I was a little bit uncertain if I should share it at all. But then again: I take photos for fun so I can afford being controversial.

The point of view is interesting because it allows into the frame the new castle up on hill, or rather as it is actually called “upon Tyne”. It neighbours the characteristic tower of the cathedral and finally it includes the Swing Bridge, one of the unique bridges which cross the River Tyne from Gateshead to Newcastle. Hence the title. The execution was quite challenging. These strong lights were somehow pointing towards me. For the first time I have seen something like that. In addition, the passing cars, which I thought will add a nice touch… they didn’t want to cooperate. Some of the lights contributed extremely yellow color, I know about sodium lights etc but it got out of control here. This yellow looks nice with the old architecture but not that well on the industrial structures here.

Hello Mariusz,
A great night shot from Newcastle. The bridge looks spectacular and is illuminated wonderfully. The light trails of the traffic are very well caught as well. Once again the castle and the church look great in the background.

Wow, this is a stunner. This looks like a Tomorrowland stage!)
(Tomorrowland is a big DJ festival, not that I'm into that scene, but it sure is very visual.)

Hi Mariusz,
You have fascinating play of lights, thanks to longer exposure. Still the bridge and the castle are correctly exposed. Quite nice location where nothing looks too modern. Direct angle across the bridge is excellent.

i like it, its funky. you gave us a lot of info in the note but didn't say how long the exposure was, i'm curious to know.
My guess would be 5-10 seconds. it works so well too, because of the contrasting blue hour colors in the sky, there's so many colors and so many lights, so many buildings stacked everywhere. good one, glad you posted it cheers

Well, who wouldn't want to come to Newcastle with a welcome like this! It reminded me of some of the photographs of Disneyland! The road is wide and open, with welcoming lights and brightly coloured surrounds! On the hillside is the magical castle and nearby the fairytale tower.
This is Newcastle as I have never seen it before!
Well done!

I love such creative photos where the artificial light used in a special way.
I regularly make a lot of drastic use of the light by moving my entire camera, creating an abstract play of lines.

It would probably look quite drab at midday, but at blue hour, it is magical and resembles a Disneyesque castle. Good time exposure with impeccable sharpness and nice warm cold colour contrasts. Tfs!

This is a spectacular photo, you have the courage to put yourself in the center of the street, so it seems that the arch of the bridge attracts us to that monumental center, with the powerful tower of the castle and the elegant and graceful tower of its cathedral. The street lamps with their star flashes make a beautiful effect.
A magnificent color, which gives the image a lot of chromatic richness.

when I was there this lane was covered with athletes and people around, it was impossible for me stay in the pov you choose. wow! how marvelous it is. excellent use of many elements and iconic buildings of the town. very beautiful photo.
