Photographer's Note
Just like Bev (Royaldevon), we have a little plastic bird feeder stuck on one of our kitchen windows and this little fellow (or girl) was enjoying some peanuts a few days ago and I manage to "shoot" him or her through the window - not ideal - but I was surprised just how clearly these two images turned out.
This is a juvenile Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) whereas my earlier photograph (https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/United_Kingdom/photo1584882.htm) was of an adult. Although there is little difference in size, this young one has yet to develop the white cheeks and the strong blue colouration on its head.
The Blue Tit is a small bird (average length 12cm, wingspan 18cm and weight 11 grams) and is also very common with an estimated 20 to 44 million pairs throughout Europe. They can be seen at any time of year in Britain. Their diet consists of insects, caterpillars, seeds and nuts.
ISO 2500, 1/250 sec at f/5.6, focal length 400mm.

Hello John.
Two lovely photos, amazingly clear and sharp considering the window between you and the bird. The photos are greatly enhanced by the fine light on the bird and the dark background which allow us to see every little feather so clearly. But if I had stuffed so much food in my mouth at a relatively similar age my parents would have told me about table manners.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John,
I love it!
These young birds are so cute and so very sharply captured, revealing super plumage textures and colours, with a great catchlight in its eye.
It is surprising just how sharp the photographs can be, even when taken through a window!
When the birds are so close and so sharp, you can see differences that are much more difficult from the garden feeders. These young blue tits have much more yellow on their faces than their grown up relatives!
Don't your window feeders have roofs?
I have found that with all the rain we have been experiencing recently that some birds actually sit inside the feeder rather than perching on the edge, to avoid the rain. When they do that, it is almost impossible to photograph them. Mind you with having a roof, I have to snap them just as they are on the edge to get any sort of a shot!!!
Thanks for sharing this,
Bev :-)

Hello John,
Two excellent photos of this lovely and charming bird. It chose quite a big bit of food, compared to its own body. The yellow feathers stand out so well from the blurry dark green backdrop. Very well done.

Dag John,
A lovely diptych of this eating blue tit and the garden.
A recognizable scene, although the food we offer is a bit different.
A lot of blue tits and great tits are flying around in our garden and that is a good sign because many blue tits have recently died of a mysterious disease.
You can clearly see from the grey cap that it is still a young bird.
Excellent work
Have a good weekend. Be careful and stay safe, Rob

Hi John
What a lovely pair of photos! I would never tell they were taken through the window, they are so clear and the details of the bird's feathers so well captured. A portrait would have been good, but it's nice you managed to shoot some action too - it's fantastic to see the behaviour of this tiny bird having a go at a "big" nut.
What a coincident, I'm sitting in my garden when writing these words and I've just been watching a great tit in a rosebush nibbling on a peanut he/she had just grabbed in our feeder!
Best wishes
Kasia

Hello John
Precise focus on the eye and beak, the bottom one is more interesting, the nut giving the scale and the dimensions of this little bird.
Have a nice day
