Photographer's Note
A view of the sea defences at Splash Point in Seaford, East Sussex, England. The chalk cliffs on this part of the south coast are being eroded by the sea at about 0.6 meters a year and this man-made barrier is there to at least delay this process.

Wonderful compostion!
The play of light, shadow and shapes in the concrete blocks is marverlous.

ciao Brian,
mi piace la sequenza di elementi che portano allo sfondo.
Dalle rocce al bastione tutto perfettamente definito con il cielo a completare una magnifica scenografia,

Hello Brian,
I must admit, when I opened this, it gave me an immediate connection with a sort of cubist painting. It is beautifully sharp with fantastic light and a most effective pov.
What a contrast between the natural chalk cliffs and the higgly piggly arrangement of the man-made blocks!
This would grace any wall as an eye-catching painting!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Bonjour Brian,
c'est une photo très soignée et dont le peu de succès me surprend. Les couleurs sont particulièrement délicates et bien réchauffées par un soleil bas.
Profondeur mais aussi hauteur, un POV bien choisi, un cadrage et un format bien pensés.
Regards.
Daniel.

Hello Brian,
Congratulations on making a super composition from some sea defences! I admire your use of a good POV and excellent technique to make such a good image from something that most people would pass by. The angular shapes of the concrete blocks against the more natural chalk cliffs work well and the light has given a range of warm tones.
Kind Regards, Ann

Hello Brian,
very often such concrete cubes spoil a sight, but by your very good example I learned that a photo CAN look beautiful even including concrete.
Well done and thanks for sharing,

Bonsoir Brian
un beau dégradé dans ce ciel bleu dense qui crée la bonne complémentarité des couleurs avec les autres éléments de la composition.Bravo pour les textures des roches au premier plan.

hello Brian
I am not sure of the beauty of the foreground, even if it brings a cubism effect. But the cliff is superb, the depth excellent, and as usual, you have a wonderful sky.

An excellent shot Brian. It's amazing just how much of the English coast erodes each year and this shot is testament to how much effort is put in to save the land. The concrete blocks actually look attractive here tumbled across the FG with their geometric shapes. What is the building/wall on the cliff top? It seems to be very close to the edge. A most unusual and very successful shot. Have a good evening Rosemary

Hello Brian,
The red building on the cliff at left colour contrasts well against the blue sky. I like the patch of green seaweed or algae on the rocks bottom right. Good sharpness throughout with superb colour saturation. Tfs!

beautiful side light that creates an attractive play of shadows on the rocks in the FG, I really like the cliff that shows us the power of nature, the colors are gorgeous, especially the sky, great POV, the shot is a masterpiece...

Hi Brian, Super Pov against these interesting blocks giving us a sense of scale and the feeling of those waves pounding the cliffs. Great light and colours, is it an old Fort or Caste on the cliffs edge? Awsome, Cheers Iain.

Hi Brian
What a spectacular place, a photographer's dream made real byb your stunning photo. I love the graphism of the man-made barrier in the foreground and the those soaring cliffs in the BG are magnificent. I love the strong natural colours too and the excellent sharpness throughout the entire image. 60 centimetres a year? That's huge. I'm glad to hear that man is finally doing something to conserve rather than destroy this beautiful part of the world.
Thanks for sharing, have a beautiful evening

Wide angle lens and vertical frame. When well managed and composed as here, the result is always there with a great depth feeling.

Hi Brian
I like how in this picture you focus on those odd, unnaturally shaped blocks in the fg. Far from being out of place, they somehow feel like they really belong there.
I also like the blue/white/red colour pattern in this scene.
A fine shot. Tfs & have a good weekend.

I always worry that man made sea defences wont work in a photo, especially big stone blocks, but you have proven me very wrong indeed!
Somehow you have turned this into an amazing shot and i love everything about it from the POV to the sharpness and the colours!
You have inspired me to head to the more 'industrial' looking beaches of my little island to see what i can capture :-)

Hello Brian,
The picture starts beautiful with the stones
(man-made barrier) and ends beautiful with the
chalk cliffs and this with the vertical position
creates a very nice depth in this picture. The
composition and the light management are (as
always) beautiful.
Friendly regards,
Robert
