Photographer's Note
Greetings to my friends on Trekearth. I apologize for my recent inactivity while I was traveling. I just completed a series of cruises on which I was serving as a lecturer. Indeed, the last photo I posted, ”Sailing into Paradise”, showed a dreamlike sky in the Southern Aegean, but with the same swimming pool in the foreground.
The present photo was shot two months ago near Bermuda while I was sailing across the Atlantic on a "repositioning cruise." Repositioning ships from one part of the world to another takes place seasonally. The elegant "Crystal Symphony," and its sister ship the "Crystal Serenity" are rated at the pinnacle of the cruise industry. But on this occasion, it was just another ship caught in a storm... or a tempest.
The last play that Shakespeare composed was "The Tempest," believed to be inspired by an actual shipwreck off the coast of Bermuda in 1609. Although there exists no obvious single source for the plot of The Tempest, it is believed that Shakespeare had access to eyewitness reports by two survivors, William Strachey and Sylvester Jordain.
The difference between modern luxury cruise ships and ocean-going ships of past eras is the presence of "retractable stabilizers" — short but powerful wings below water-level that keep ships stable during rough seas. Located about 1000 km (650 miles) off the coast of North America, the Islands of Bermuda represent a British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic.

Hello Bulent,
The swimming pool happily bereft of swimmers looks as if it is positively boiling! Excellent light management and fine symmetrical composition. It seems that only the photographer was prepared to weather this storm:-)

Not ashipwreck at all, Bulent, rather a modern vessel built to be cruising the oceans, that is already a trend growing all over.
Night picture with the waves-pool show a little stormy waterr inside, beautifully rendered.
My best regards,
Ike

Dear Bulent,
I know not the difference between a big ship and the old minesweepers out of the sixties by the navy, I was by at navy in 1959-1960 on a very small river minesweeper but on sea.
I hope that you enjoy of the trips and the sea without storm.
Lovely presentation, sharp and clear.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Bonjour Bulent,
J'aime beaucoup cette photo ainsi que l'histoire qui l'accompagne. Très jolie lumière dans la piscine malgré le fait qu'elle brasse beaucoup. Très belle gestion de la lumière.
Amicalement

Hello, dear Bulent,
But where are the lucky passengers of this cruiser? Or they have a night party with cocktails? ;) I have never been in a cruise and this is my old dream. Now I can imagine how it looks under the sun when the guests have full relax.
Best wishes!

Hello Bulent,
A nice view of the rough waters of the swimming pool. I like the atmosphere of the photo, thanks to the fine lighting and the absence of people. I saw The Tempest once and will attend another performance in September, which will be in the courtyard of a castle not far from my home.

Hello Bülent,
Now, this is what I call a whirlpool tub in its highest degree :)
It looks like a picture of a dramatic movie.
I fear that many passengers were ill at the time. But seasoned ocean travelers like you were still capable to take pictures.
I've never made a cruise and this photo looks fantastic but isn't exactly convincing me to go on a cruise :)
Glad that you survived the journey.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Bulent,
It seems like you were the only person on deck; it's a bit eerie. The roiling pool water is in contrast to the silent and motionless surroundings. After so many voyages, you must be a cruise expert. :-) I hope all is well with you and your family.

Hello Bulent,
The normally tranquil pool looks more like the Atlantic Ocean the ship is sailing on. Good sharpness and an informative note. Excellent warm cold colour contrasts between the blue water and the pale red magenta tint of the deck. Tfs!

Hello Bulent,
The swimming pool certainly looks like a setting for 'The Tempest'! The lights aboard give added colour and sense of emergency to the waves, crashing onto the sides of the pool.
This looks even more dramatic, set against the dark, night sky.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Bulent
It is not difficult to imagine that the waves surrounding the ship were possibly far worse than the ones we see here. Or is that just some kind of trick the mind plays? No matter, just a thought.
In Shakespeares play the ship is wrecked and Miranda and Prospero stand on an island looking over the sea towards the wreck. I imagine the topic of conversation was probably about the need for retractable stabilizers! :)
Have a good evening.
Mike
