Photographer's Note
Another shot of the Lindisfarne boat sheds. This time in colour. You can see Lindisfarne Castle in the background across the harbour. The castle was built in the 16th century. I will say more about the castle in subsequent posts.
Enjoy.

Good afternoon Michael,
Went first to Google-Maps to find the location of this island, which is located half-way from Newcastle to Edinburgh. 55.67, -1.79 on the map.
A fine photo with the castle distinctly shown across the bay, and the boats sheds with the tow-vehicle in the FG, filling marvelously the pic. space.
My best regards,
Ike

Hi Mike,
Another fine photograph of these well known "boat" sheds, this time in colour and with the added inclusion of a bright red dumper truck in the foreground really to brighten things up and add a fine sense of depth to this lovely composition. And what a wonderful moody sky too.
I'm not sure exactly what processing you've done here but I like it a lot. There's some vignetting applied, I can see that, but is this also HDR or have you just reduced the colour saturation to some extent? Anyway, I like it a lot.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.
How many of these sheds are there here? Would definitely be worth a trip some day to shoot them. Is there ever anyone around? Because I seem to recall seeing a picture (maybe at my camera club, I'm not sure) with an old whiskery curmudgeon standing at the door of one of these sheds - if you fancy another shot I could not shave for a week and come and join you here as a subject. :)

Hello Mike,
the composition of old objects you found there looks like an artistic installation, you chose a very effective angle to make each of the items -and the scene they've made up- significant. I like very much how you placed the distant castle in the gap and made it part of this marvellous still life too. The colours are eerie and fascinating, they create a mood that isn't familiar but it's certainly alluring. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

Hello Michael ,
this one is excellent , too .
I like a lot the perspective to the castle in the BG . And the good effect of the PP with the desaturation .

Hello Mike, Another nice composition, this time we see the boat covered, so it still can be used. Picturesque chaos. The castle on horizon looks a bit like Mt. Saint Michel. The sky is grey but it fits well the scene. Beautiful picture.

Hello again Mike
Not many here on TE actually de-saturate their images! Less comfortable with the vignette. But I like the authentic feel you've achieved, with the detritus and clutter foregrounded rather than removed. I won't say "snap"!

Hello Mike
Slight saturation makes the sheds look rather more miserable, which probably only makes your picture more interesting and appealing. Oh, the way some minds work...
I do wonder what you've done to the castle, photography-wise.
Saturation at the bottom seems to have gone a bit OTT. What's that grey line down there?

Hello, Michael!
The distance between the castle and these interesting elements in the foreground gives very good depth to the composition, and the cloudy sky gives it a very nice atmosphere! Wonderful job!

Hi Mike,
A most sympathetic bit of pp work.
The desat has really emphasised the textures and created a photograph which more nearly resembles a painting.
I like how the features fill the screen, offering just a small gap which leads to the castle.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
Did you visit the castle. It is quite sumptuous, as far as castle go and has beautiful furniture designed by Edwin Lutyens.

Hi Mike
Superb capture again and so much of interest to explore. The sky works a treat with a great injection of colour into the rather dowdy and overcast surrounding. Well, that's an excellent juxtaposition as strong counterpoint, the way the boat roof mimics the shape of the distant castle. Too bad the owner wasn't sitting outside the hut to see what kind of man has this. A lovely image so pleasing on the eye. Congrats
Best wishes

Hi Mike
how the heck did I miss this one?
another rustic looking scene, getting down and dirty! What's better than that! These upside down boat sheds are so cool, talk about a wicked subject to photograph.
technically speaking about your shot, dont' be afraid to add a bit more colour. But you know what??? It could be the TE site. SO many times I've posted my photo, and the colours look so DULL. Yet on my laptop and the same photo i worked on is quite bright and vivid....have you come across that too? Its incredibly frustrating how this version of TE makes our photos blurry at times, and reduces colours sometimes...i don't get it.
anyways, keep posting, I enjoy seeing your gallery
cheers
craig
I just read some of the other critiques and responses to this post...you de saturated your shot...ok, no worries. But I still have the colour problem on TE from time to time...perfect example is my latest post.

I was in Pakistan when you posted this...
A great example of how to make a great photograph out of apparent clutter. Good use of light on a dark and gloomy day.
Best wishes
