Photographer's Note

Ludlow, a market town in Shropshire, has a fine collection of half timbered buildings. Compared to some, this is actually quite a plain example!

Half timbered buildings:- The style is characteristic of medieval and early modern Denmark, England, Germany and parts of France and Switzerland, where timber was in good supply, yet stone and associated skills to dress the stonework were in short supply.

External and internal walls are constructed of timber frames and the spaces between the structural members are filled with such materials as brick, plaster, or wattle and daub.

An extra view in the workshop.
Thanks for looking.
