Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
This beautiful weeping willow was photographed on the banks of the River Thames, in Oxfordshire, long before it reaches London.
I photographed it during a mini get-together when Len and I met up with Viviane and Chris.
It isn't common to see the willow photographed from behind its fronds but I was attracted to the lovely shadow patterns that it created and the lacy effect it had on the bridge.
I will show the tree from the front in a workshop.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend and keeping safe, Bev :-)

Hello Beverley,
Superbly used the backlight to the willow tree and a nice effect with the bridge and water shown through.
Mingling beautiful tones of green with yellow's.
The WS offers a wider view of the river, a tributary far away from London.
Have a nice sunday, stay safe.
Ike
*** Found the precise location on the map: 51.71, -1.4172 , where you can see the very same sight as on the WS.

Hello Bev,
The old "new" bridge provides a perfect background to this photo. We see just enough of it between the hanging branches to realize what an elegant building it is. But the branches make it difficult to see if it is the same bridge that you showed last summer. Maybe it's just the different angle that makes it difficult to identify it. The WS is also a very nice photo with a pleasant, serene atmosphere and could easily have been another main upload.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Bev,
How helpful it was that Ike furnished us all with some precise co-ordinates so that we could further appreciate just where you were when you took these photographs! Or, at least, your workshop image which was taken from New Bridge. And because Google's little man clearly shows us this huge willow tree, I can suspect that you and your little group perhaps took some refreshment at the "Rose Revived"?
Anyway, your two photographs are utterly delightful, each one, as Gert says, being worthy of a posting on TE on its own. But, while your workshop image gives us a fine view from the bridge along the river and its boats, your main photograph is the more creative and artistic of the two, the warm sunlight reflected off the bridge and its reflections so beautifully enhanced by the soft "curtain" of the willow.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Bev,
Weeping willow are during springtime always a very nice, subject to make a picture.
You play nice with light and shadows, this gives a nice contrast.
Composition and presentation are pleasant to look at.
Very well done, TFS.

Bonjour dear Beverley,
After reading your conversation with Ike, I couldn’t resist uploading another WS.
It was indeed a lovely spot, we would love to go in that area again and visit more of Oxfordshire and the villages of Cotswold...
Your image is precisely how I remember our walk there, thank you!
Amitiés,
Viviane

thames looks so small here, similar with the second largest river of my town.
I liked the first WS with the swan and the river. I would like to see more of the bridge with less branches, but this is a matter of preference.
take care

Hello Bev,
I'm a big fan of weeping willow trees. I don't see many of them where I live. If I do....I don't find a beautiful spot like your picture shown here.
It does feel that the willow is playing tricks on us....now you see the bridge...now you don't. It would be nice if the lacy effect slightly swaying a bit......
Thanks 4 sharing.Well seen.

Hello Beverley,
A beautiful photo of this weeping willow, which created such a nice play of light and shadow around the river bank also. The old stone bridge is still nicely seen through the long branches, also because it is so nicely illuminated by the bright sunshine. The Thames created some lovely reflections.

Hi Bev
An interesting and different viewpoint through the willow. I like it. Willows have become weeds here because they clog up small streams.
cheers

Hello Bev, I have also found it easily in Google Map. Lovely view of the big stone bridge behind the weeping willow tree. The willow is a typical Mazovian tree. In the Warsaw monument, Chopin sits under it. Original composition.
Have a nice new week

Hello Beverley,
Willow trees are also a very common tree species in Belgium.
The wonderful thing is that their branches form a kind of curtain that you can still see through and still partially shield.
It feels a bit like standing behind a waterfall and looking through the crashing water.
The stone colour of the bridge goes well with the green of the foreground.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev,
That willow looks very nice. But shown this way means that exposure is rather tricky. Now part of the sky is overexposed and that bridge looks quite bright too. Framing is perfect anyway. It is funny how many places get names starting with 'New' and they name cease being new. In Finland we have a town called Uusikaupunki, translates to 'New Town'. It was founded in 1617. Not exactly ancient, but it still is 12th oldest city in Finland.

Hi Bev.
Beautiful composition with that medieval bridge, which is glimpsed through the branches of the weeping willow, which here falls like a vegetable curtain. The trunk also gives a nice touch of zonal framing.
Sharpness, lighting, color, and the magnificent composition; they are all perfectly made factors, in this beautiful image.
Well done. I like very much.
You have a good day. Stay safe.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Bev
I love the idea of a peripatetic tree! Joking aside, this is a very pleasant image, which gives a good impression of the upper reaches of the Thames (isn't it often referred to as the Isis in these parts? Pretentious: moi?). The river looks very different from my home town of Southend...
Kind regards
Will

Hi Bev
in a way its kinda funny seeing this because its so easy just to say, hey...the tree branches are in the way of the bridge..what's going on here? haha. but the branches are the main subject, and why not right? it does make for an attractive set up, how they're just dangling like that with pretty light and shadows. Good one, something different for sure. cheers
