Photographer's Note
Shire Horse and sheep feeding near Halton East (Yorkshire Dales).
In this Winter scene I had trouble with a 'washed out' sky, I ended up giving the whole picture what I think is an almost 'tinted' look via Photoshop - what do you think?

Very nice shot, the composition of animals and the framing is perfect. Perhaps a bit more contrast? Congratulations.

Good composition with a nice land mood.
But the sky doesn't work as well...

What a lovely country scene. I really like the soft colours and lighting. I had wondered about cropping down to the top of the large tree in the background but after 'playing' I feel the clear sky over the tree adds to the sense of space and distance.

Great shot. Reminds me of the movie "Babe" ;) Great DOF and nice pastel like background. I like it.

Great composition. Timeless picture which depict a scene that could have been seen over 100 years ago. Good job with the DOF keeping the detail in the shallow depths but not too much blur in the futher parts. Excellent picture, congratulations!

What a lovely country scene. I really like the soft colours and lighting. The background a little bit fog. Original it better than of WS. Excellent picture.

A lovely scene! The sky seems fine to me. I just like to see a wider composition to include the back half of the horse.

Very good nature scene. Fits well with the rule of 1/3rds. I find the sky fits in well with the pastel shades of green in the hills. Good capture with the horse's eyes closed. Very well composed.

I like your picture because of the feeling of tranquility it conveys, which I think is achieved not only due to the subject matter but due to the soft color of the sky and the color of the hills in the background.

Lovely photograph. The subject up front are so sharp and so cute. The DOF is also well exucuted. I like the "tinted" look that you have obtained here. Very nicely done.

Looks like an old oil painting... Ilove those sheep, and the horse so much! They have personality!

Wonderful shot. Though the more I look at it the more fake it looks to me, almost like a Norman Rockwell painting. I`d be very interested in seeing the completely unretouched version. Thanks!

This is wonderful! It reminds me of a scene from the movie, "Babe": I almost expect to hear the animals talk.

This is gorgeous. Rolling hills, soft light, very beautiful atmosphere. To get this light in Israel we need to wake up around 4:30 in the morning and we can enjoy it for maybe an hour.

I think its a fantastic photograph. Great composition and subjects.
Perhaps I'm goign out on a limb here, but does anybody else feel that fiddling with the colors and contrast in such a way is somehow "cheating". It definitely looks incredible, but is there any light condition that would cause a photograph to look like this naturally?
So for this reason I have a few reservations about this photo and others that have been adjusted in a similar way.

Bravo Stephen

This could very well be a painting of an old Dutch Master. In fact, it looks arranged and a bit to perfect.
But...
It's real! A very, very nice composition, the work that has been done in one of the WS gives a bit better color presentation. But still, the tree, horse and object in the foreground a so var well in balance, a pleasure to look at. Added to one of my favs!

Scène de campagne ou de ferme très tendre, la paisible cohabitation d'animaus d'espèces si différentes, tous avec ce visage empli de douceur.
J'adore.

Just discovered your galery.
Very nice framing and composition. Lovely scene.
The sky is OK. The panoram just below has a blue colorcast as if it was haze.
Not really disturbing. It's more like the difference between 99.9% and 100%
This picture shows clearly that you don't need to go to wonderlands (India in my case) to come up with wonderfull pictures

I think it’s great! It’s a real painting! The softness of the light, especially in the foreground maintaining the details is incredible. Also you must thanks to the sheep looking at you! ;-)
They add strength to the composition by making us feel that we’re there and they are looking at us.

Hi Stephen - well I keep meaning to add to the accolades to this wonderful almost painterly image - a classic Victorian type countryside view - wonderfully executed - I don't really understand or compute the problems people have with making an image look better in this way - that has been an approach employed since the dawn of photography!!
best wishes kev

It looks like a studio shot with a fake landscape in the background like a country sude soap opera setting. Very nice composition, very rustic and so "nature". I love the pale colors in the back, the strong horse "profile" and most of all the sheeps looking in direction of the camera (especially the one on the right hand side: very neat ;o)
Great work, TFS!
Cheers,
Pris.

Great colours, feels like a painting. Looks like some of the sheep spotted you. You obviously not the kind of guy who normally creeps up on sheep :)

Hello Stephen,
An extraordinarily bucolic scene, where different species of animals appear to be having a dialogue. I like the atmosphere you've captured. The composition, definition, colors all work in concert to make this a compelling shot.
Warm regards,

Where did you find that pic!!! Awesome...such a quaint fairy tale setting..like an illustration from a fav children's book. Awesome...love the effect of light on the hay and the tint is perfect..maybe you should try some drama with the sky,,,then maybe not..its a beautiful peaceful shot.
Thanks for sharing.

Magnifique prise de vue et bonne composition. J'aime beaucoup cette scène où le cheval semble faire bon ménage avec les moutons et aussi les couleurs douces. Beau travail et bonne qualité d'image.

I like the composition of the photo. It reminds me of pictures in huge frames hanging on the walls of very old establishments. ( probably worth thousands of pounds. !!!!)
I think the sky looks O.K. but the horse has got a green cast.
Gladys.

My teacher in the school said, that it is not good to paint half of the animal. This is true ,but in your picture it is not so disturbing thing, because there is so much other full animals.
