Photographer's Note
Found time to pop out yesterday in between showers to try to capture the heather before it lost its beautiful colours ,i was rewarded with this view and as a bonus the rowanbery was full of berries.i used my friends canon 10d which im still trying to get to grips with.
hope you like it ,also i would like to thank Neil for his help with settings etc

Hey Ollie,
really nice shot, you've captured one of my favourite types of landscape really well. I love the feeling of open space and the colours are great too. Makes me want to go for a really long walk!!

What a lovely view, Ollie! The heather is gorgeous, fine light and great depth, beautful sky ... but I think the single tree is essential for the beauty of the shot, TFS.

Hi Andy,
Brilliant colours and an excellent natural shot of a good subject. I love wide open spaces, and wee trees!
Thanks.
Dougie.

The heather is wonderful here Andy, and you've done a great job with the exposure and captured a good level of detail in the sky.
In terms of the composition, I think the tree would be better placed a little further to the right, and losing some of the foreground would make the image more effective. I'll post a WS tomorrow so you can see what I mean.
Cheers,
Ben

Wow, amazing colors and scene here. I also love that you haven't cluttered this shot with stuff that detracts from the natural beauty. Nice & clean.. well done! Regards, Doug

Good moorland landscape that draws you into the distance, exposure is well held considering the bright sky.

Hi Andy,
A very beautiful image, the contrast are spectacular and the amazing colors, the composition is good, but I see two small failures, to the image him lack a little approach and the sky this slightly burned, in any case I congratulate to you to catch this beautiful landscape and to share it.

Lovely shot Ollie,
Great colours, love the lines crossing the image from left to right and vice versa. The lonely tree is very effective in this composition, although just another a bit more off-center would have worked better, I think. Nice light on the fields, well seen, lucky to have catched the light, I see it was quite cloudy!

wow, amazing landscape-shot, ollie! :-)
wonderful composition and superb pov showing a purple sea
flowing into an endless horizon, with one lonely tree for miles
and a great and dramatic sky above.
well seen & captured, thorsten.

Hello Andy,
beautiful landscape and beautiful colours. The tree finishes it off very well. However, I also like Ben's workshop.

A great picture that really does the Moors justice. I saved it and emailed to my friends to show them what Yorkshire is like.

Hi Andy, I like this one perhaps because it is fact that it is so open, that is the kind of place I like to be, I love up north for just the same reason big open wild country. I can remember when I was a boy the whole of Sutherland was one big heather laden county and I use to go out with my grandad and 21 pointers and at least 10 Tofs at Leadmore grouse shooting thats 30 years ago, look at it now!! hardly a scrap of heather to be seen, opps I just remembered I am ment to be giving a critique.
You did a fine job great POV great Sky all round very well done. And remember as a guy with a top noch camera said to me, its not the camera its the person behind the camera that makes the photo. TFS.
Kind regards
Donald

Hi Andy,
like the colours on this, really different with the colours of the heather really striking here. A good composition also with the tree nicely positioned. Nice one Olly, er Andy!

Hi Ollie,
You've definitely seen some beautiful places in your travels. I like this shot because of the colors and the sense of remoteness. Very well shot,
Brian
