Photographer's Note
This capstan engine has been retired after sterling service for the last 90 years. It was used to open the dock gates. (caissons) at the naval base in Portsmouth. Originally a steam engine it was converted to air in the seventies. The capstan head will be disposed of but this engine will find a good home and be restored.

Nice to know it will be restored. This looks like an Olli shot, have you discovered him yet? Interesting note. Maybe could do with a being a bit darker, and more contrast.

Intriguing image, nicely composed. It does have an Olli quality to it. I've done a Workshop as well, using a slightly different set of adjustments. You are receiving a wealth of help here lad. I hope it is useful to you and that you have the tools to do such things with your images.

Quite an interesting picture of a piece of machinery passing into history. Your picture has good sharp details.
